There'll never be another Jim Croce.

He was truly one-of-a-kind.

The most soulful man in all of rock.

He did have alot of competition though..

Sad that he isn't still alive today.

Our loss.. (and his family's of course.)

"Oper-raa-torrr .. oh would u help me place this call...?"

The early 1970s. This was how they were for some people.

Soulful, sincere, and mostly happy (the War was soon ending)..

Jimmy Ibbotson and his band!

From Nashville to Aspen (Woody Creek), then back to Nashville (for some members)..

Banjo and/or mandolin?

Happy times...

Re: The 70's music time machine. The best decade of music
THIS is what we miss from the 70s, this was a YT poster describing life in 1976 (I concur):

"Traveling down the highway seeing the country in my van, in the summer of '76, dam, girls at gas stations washing cars in bathing suits, halter tops, or cutoff shorts seemed like they were everywhere. And they were friendly....very friendly. What a great time to be 18yrs old. That summer was the 200th 4th of July, and parties seemed to be all over the place too. Just check out a laundry mat bulletin board or a telephone pole or just ask somebody, and find out where the parties were. So many young people out and about. It really was crazy."

First heard this song in '77 or '78 at a top-notch high-fidelity stereo store. The salesman was playing it so that the buyer could compare the studio-quality speakers. I was stunned and blown away by the sound that I heard in there that day.

Incredible guitar work.

[This song seriously deserves a little VOLUME. Right up there with Freebird as one of the very best.]

If I was Trump, I would see if I could make this the nation's National Anthem. It's that good.

Should have used it at the Trump rallies.

RIP, Hughey..

Re: The 70's music time machine. The best decade of music
"We were wild and free. Keg parties out by the lake and bonfires. what is now classic was just common great music back then. Everyone had muscle cars. Hell the cops would drive you home if you were drunk then. Now you can't take a damn piss without getting a sex offender charge. Bands knew how to play more than three chords. Women loved to party as did everybody. Driving by the school on a school day burning one holding it out the window with Led Zepplin cranked. Now there is no one out by the lake. No more bonfires, no more 1/4 mile drag races. There is no one listening to great musicians today, because there aren't that many. There are a few. much less driving a muscle car. We are the last of a dying breed people. It's like being a part of Royalty to me. I for one am proud of my heritage."
