Millennials complain they can’t afford Seattle life they chose
lolsign

Meet Seattle residents Kathryn Jacoby and Jeff Whitehill, a young couple featured in The Seattle Times this week.

The two just bought a house that they can’t afford and are now struggling with their mortgage payments, credit card debt, and student loans. We’re supposed to feel bad for these two, but I find myself running out of sympathy for millennials who put themselves in financially tenuous positions.

The couple isn’t necessarily complaining; at least, that’s saved until the end of the story. But the Times paints their story as a realistic view of the unfair lives for millennials:

If you can’t afford a house, don’t buy one. If you can’t afford high rent on Capitol Hill, don’t live there. If you plan on getting onto a career path with limited income potential, don’t go to an expensive college. These are common sense and reasonable positions we should impart to all millennials, but don’t. But we’re pretending otherwise.

It is happening all over this city and suburbs. In my area million dollar homes are going like free ice cream right now. The homes are really worth $500k or less.

All these people are MAX'd out.

Listen up peeps, this is fact. Home builders and the real estate market are catering to guest workers. Guest workers come here and flood an area, driving up home prices and taxing resources like hospitals and schools. They are eligible for all kinds of state benefits and also live multi-generation to a house. It's been discussed here on GLP before. Seattle, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, anywhere there are tech jobs.

There can be eligible for up to 2500 a month, depending on the state your in. They bring their parents over and boom - free child care.

Google it. It's a big problem, not just in Seattle but...Seattle and it's arrogant millennials get what they deserve for supporting this madness.

You provided the answer in your post, Tim. (going my Wilson voice)

Common sense. They people simply do not have the ability. I don't care how academically smart they supposedly are. Hell, Einstein had to be told he needed to address his personal hygiene, and tie his shoes.
"Moral of the story is I chose a half measure when I should have gone all the way. I'll never make that mistake again.

People are forced to live in Vancouver to pursue the careers of their educations. There isn't much work in the smaller cities, towns and rurals unless you're a public school teacher, work in healthcare or are a tradesmen.

Granted that's no different than elsewhere in the world but there are large cities, who can employ educated people, without crazy real estate bubbles made from rich Chinese.

In all honesty, the older generations ahve played the role of Satan, outright lying the Gen Y/Millenial's about these things, then when it comes to fruition coming out and saying "see you shouldn't have done that, I told you so".

When in fact, the little Satan's, counseled the poor choices, every step of the way.

I no longer feel sorry for the garbage going on in Finland right now. You truly are a psychopathic piece of work. Gen Y, is justifiably pissed, at how we have been thrown under the bus, so the Boomers and gen X, can continue a tiny bit of prosperity.

Gen Y, will be the first generation, that was deliberately left a worse off nation, in American history. Boomers and gen X, are the only generations in America history, PROUD, that they left America in worse shape then they found it.

Every generation prior, thought only to "make things better for the next generation". Boomers and X'ers thought "how can we cash out to maximize our personnel wealth, and to hell with future generations".

So Gen Y/Millennial's, where deliberately dumbed down and paralyzed with debt, so older, boomer/x'er psychopaths, wouldn't have to deal with real competition. It will take atleast two generations(being generous), to fix the deliberate evil of the boomer/Xer, generations.

Quit dragging X'ers into this ...I've been quite content that my generation has been forgotten. Leave us be or find out the hard way why this is in your best interest. Hell the boomers have not even begun to retire...we've paid our dues, waiting, learning, saving, living debt free or close. Go rack up some credit card debt or some thing fool!
