UK losing access to EU market. UK losing tens of thousand of finance jobs who were working for euro exchange system. But also German automobile industry losing billions (and french luxury industry as well), UK becoming a tax evasion paradise and american colony at the door of Europe, lots of Polish and French who worked in England losing jobs, etc...
Nobody (in Europe including UK) has interest in seing these negociations fail, so I guess EU will accept to settle for a far smaller bill and UK will happily pay it to keep access to our market while having freedom to refuse migrants.
IMO the two sides are just showing their muscles in hope to get more in the incoming bargain, but all countries economic powers are lobbbying against anything extreme, so Brexit will end rather well.
