Anonymous Coward User ID: 69464942 United States 02/01/2017 07:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just accused security guard of stealing A month ago, someone broke into my car and stole a bunch of stuff and my garage door opener in our apts, (which is not attached to our apts.) They got into the garage and took a few things. I went and got a new remote from the apts (they said they reprogrammed it) I have been wakeing up and just checking out the window. Tonight I wake up and go to my garage and see that it is open and the light is on, now that light will go off after a few minutes, so I knew either someone was in there or just left. I ran downstairs and looked into the garage. There was no one there, so I thought maybe my wife left it open and a cat or something ran in there.
I saw 3 guys walking in the distance, but they could of just parked and were walking to their apt. Well, I went upstairs, walked to the kitchen table, grabbed the remote and walked to the window and shut the garage door. I was telling my wife what happened for like 7 or 8 minutes. She went back to the room. All of a sudden I am watching out the window and I watch my garage door just open on its own. I run down stairs and I see the security guy (who drives through our apts like twice a night.) turning in front of my garage. I ask him if he saw it open. He gets out of his car and says no that's weird. I drove up at it was already open. I looked and saw no one else around (the remote does not have a long range). I told the guy well, I'm just glad that we have a camera installed so we can figure this out. Right then he got really weird and got in his car and was trying to leave. I could see it on his face. He then kept saying he didn't break in. I sad I never said you broke in I'm just saying how weird it was. He called in to his dispatcher and said I was accusing him of stealing. I called the office, right away the guy started telling me the guy is a senior patrole officer and that he wouldn't do that....... I don't know he seemed so guilty |

Quoting: Larry D. Croc The apartments used to have a night guard walking around here all night then a year or so ago the apartments signed a new contract to only do a patrole and not a all night guard. My conspiracy theory personality kicks in and I wonder if the security company is having them break into cars (which over the past couple months it has been crazy with break-ins.) so that they can get all the tenants to throw a fit and get the night guard contract back. |

They have no encryption. These thieves probably drive by and scan the codes until it opens. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73871289 There was literally no one else around except for him. We leave in a gated community. My garage door opener was stolen last month. My apts said they deleted the old codes when they gave me another remote. How are they not liable for this. There are garages lined up, it just so happens that it was mine that opened and right when he was there |
