I don't think everyone has a choice when it comes to being mature. It seems apparent to me that severely retarded people don't have too much of a choice in that. I personally question if a lot of mentally unbalanced people have much of a choice in that either. In my experience, it seems like they don't.

I cannot believe how you described the quote "The unexamined life is not worth living" because I live by that quote. I constantly examine myself, my worldview, my reality, etc. I don't see any other valid way to exist. I would think of doing anything else as wasting my time. The reason I believe that is because there have been many times when I found answers through my persistent examination of life that I could never have imagined. If I wasn't working as hard as I was to find those answers, I never could have found the answers I found. In my experience, you never know where those answers will come from. That's why I believe examining everything with a completely open mind is essential.

That's a great question. I don't think any kind of formulated guide can tell someone who they are or who they should be. Personally, I wouldn't follow any preset definition of what I should be or what I am. I believe our understanding of life isn't good enough to make those kinds of judgments. In my opinion, if one can make those kinds of judgments they only would be valid for themselves because no one knows anyone else's reality.

Have you heard of "reality tunnels"? The following video is a decent introduction.



The more I learn, the more I believe that we're all experiencing different realities (via something like "reality tunnels"). That belief leads me to think that no one can tell anyone else what their reality is.

Am not trying to BE an ENFP...I took a test and that is what I got as a personality type. I resonate with that. But, you see, there is a series of letters involved in that....for example Feeling vs. Thinking...which is a preference as to how you make decisions. I am an F...but that only means that is my preference...not that I do not also have the T. Am I making sense?

The ENFP I learned about approximately 20 years ago when my father gave me a book called "Please Understand Me." The concept is based on Jung, but was brought forth further by Meyers and Briggs. There is info online and the test. I recommend the book, though.

LOL Have had Robert Anton Wilson's books in my shopping cart for awhile. Will watch the video and comment. Sounds fascinating!

It seems like we're on the same path, so it's easy for me to understand you. The following Bible verses comes to mind (I have no religion at all, but I know this because I grew up in a Christian family):

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

I think that's very true. It's apparent to me that you're trying to go through the narrow gate, and I am too. That seems to be extremely rare. Most people don't even seem to try to go in that direction even if they claim to. It's just too hard, but a few are devoted enough to make a lot of headway in that direction.

This supposed statement by Jesus comes to mind to:

"Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

I believe that's an essential part of the journey we're discussing. In my view, you must be very pure of heart to see the truth a lot of times. I don't know if that's part of the point that you're trying to make with the beautiful pictures of children that you're posting all over this thread, but it does seem to fit in my opinion.
