Why nice guys lose.
Nice guys will always lose out to assholes and tough guys because women are biologically programmed to go for this type of man. We may be civilized but oueven biology has not caught up yet. In the natural world (think hunter gatherer) a female who chooses a "nice guy' for a mate is almost certain to starve or be taken away by an alpha. So it is I their interest to choose a mate that can protect them.

I know there are exceptions to this in the modern world but deep down we are all driven by our genetic programming.
