what about all the whites that had to be literally killed in battle to fre the slaves... and then more of them stilll had to be fought to give the vote and more to end segregation and so on. equality wasnt given...it had to be fought for.

Part of my family were slaves. Thankfully, they escaped via the underground railroad, which showed great courage. However, slavery could not have been defeated if not for the firepower and bravery of northern whites who really saved us for all of history. The media does not report on this. I have nothing but respect for what our country stands for and what whites and blacks have together achieved in terms of standing up for human rights. I wish others would feel the same and abandon the racist media's self serving and divisive narrative!

White males created a country just for them; no non-whites nor women of ANY color had a say or could even vote. Every group other than white males has had to fight for whatever rights they currently have.

So really, thinking whites for ending slavery is a lot like thanking a gunman at a massacre for saving your life. Your life wasn't in danger until the gunman came around!

Let's just acknowledge what happened, and move on. Not acknowledging it has caused just as many problems as racism itself. Once we, as a COUNTRY, can acknowledge what transpired in the infancy of the US, then we can finally move in an honest manner and begin to heal old wounds.

We did acknowledge it- and ended it. Unlike other countries where life is way more backwards in their treatment of women, minorities, and human rights in general. When you are willing to look in the mirror and acknowledge your own prejudices, faults and imperfections and this is truly a two way street of self improvement and togetherness, will be when things get better. Until then, merely projecting all of the ills of racism, etc. onto one race will continue to only result in hatred and division.

The slaves were "sold" more or less legally by their (black) owners. Scholars estimate that about 12,000,000 Africans were sold by Africans to Europeans (most of them before 1776, when the USA wasn't yet born) and 17,000,000 were sold to Arabs. The legends of European mercenaries capturing free people in the jungle are mostly just that: legends. A few white mercenaries certainly stormed peaceful tribes and committed terrible crimes, but that was not the norm. There was no need to risk their lives, so most of them didn't: they simply purchased (black) people.

They had to fight, but we fought with them. They could not have freed themselves- it took northern whites and their firepower. They could not have ended segregation or given themselves the right to vote- white men voluntarily did that. They had to, because only white men were allowed in congress at the time- so if they hadn't done it, then it would never have happened.

So, when will the good white people and white men get any credit for this historically? Sticking their necks out and helping people, only to have the media and liberal establishment make blanket insinuations that we are all prejudiced, when history and current stats don't really back that up? It's a tiresome narrative and one that only creates more hate. Of course that's probably their goal.

Show me the descendents of these "African slave dealers", because by the statistics you gave in your other post they should still be well off. I mean, the bloodlines that first bought the slaves and created a country with slave labor are still wealthy. Why wouldn't the slave dealer's family be?

Fact: The "Enslaving" part was performed primarily by the Moores, Turks(MUSLIMS). Look up the Barbary Slave Trade.
Muslims would raid villages along African and European coasts looking for people of any color. They would kidnap them and sell them into slavery. Although some whites were involved as well,(Christopher Columbus was a slave trader)

Fact: "Slavery" was common around the World in those times and was used the same way "Debt" is today.

Fact: Most Slaves were not slaves at all but "Indentured Servants", they would work off their debts and then be free.

Fact: The first slave owner was a Black Man.

Fact: Only 2% of Whites in the States were slave owners.

Fact: 17% of Blacks in the States were slave owners.

Africa didn't have civilization, other than tribes, until the year 1900. Blacks traded their slaves for guns, medicines, etc.

Whites in the United States, before the civil war, were by far the wealthiest people in the history the world.
