The spillway is shot 2. It will need to be repoured entirely 3. Demolish entire upper part of spillway 4. Push demolished upper spillway concrete down into cavity to fill 5. Repour the whole gotdamn thang You're welcome. That is cheap advice and not the worse part. You forgot they need to tear out the entire gate system that is on the verge of shearing off. |

I doubt they'll be doing much work to the spillway until summertime when they hopefully won't have to be using the spillway at all. |

Why do you think the gate system is on the verge of tearing off? The crack was the confirmation I needed, but do you know what millions of pounds of constant running water does even to an intact spillway. Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy Non-engineers have it in their brains that solid items can't twist and turn. Ford delivered cars to a rental agency, ten at a time, and they had to be jacked all the way down, where only have the back tire was visible. What happened? I know I am crazy but y'all should be use to me by now. The wet ground that I keep focusing on -- could there be an undercurrent over there on the back side of the chutes that we can't see that is flowing below the surface and creating these crazy numbers? Look at that long YouTube video from today and you can see this area. It hasn't dried out for days so it's staying wet somehow. [link to www.parks.ca.gov (secure)] In the Aux Spillway angle, you can actually see puddled water on this wet spot that I did not see earlier today. Change in light I guess but, the chutes are now shut too. |

Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed I bet they eventually fill that whole gat danged gouge back in. They're already stockpiling rock there along the cliff. Plus they'll dredge the bottom out, that whole pile of sandbar crap, and shove it back up in there too. Rebuild of whole dang spillway, maybe redesign, maybe rebuild whole new gate system and spillway where the ES is, who knows. These boys have some serious dad burned equipment at their disposal, if they can keep the thing from disintegrating completely, they'll put 'er back together. |

You can't re-build a spillway on back fill. It has to be solid undisturbed ground. They will have to pull something out of there ass and completely re-engineer the whole damn thing. |

Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed I am 3.5 hours away from the Dam. Where should I pan for gold in the coming weeks? Never done it. Quoting: #Geomagnetic_Storm# Right below the spillway. You can pick up a personal, portable, slucebox for around a bill. Check around boulders, anywhere that a new stream formed, cutting the hillside down to bedrock should be checked, especially where it meets the Feather River. Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed Dang, that looks like an unfixable mess. Maybe if they can get the power plant up and running again, the 13,500 cfs would give them the margin they need to keep the main spillway dry for a long period of time where they could find bedrock to rebuild. Highly doubtful, however. Alternatively, how would they take the dam down permanently? What would that do to the areas below the dam? And how would Southern California be affected in terms of water supply? Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved. |
