One inch of rain over the watershed lifts the lake 12 feet.

12 inches of snow equals an inch of rain, give or take.

120 inches of snow is 10 of rain brings the lake up 120 feet.

In some places the snow is over 500 inches. That would bring the lake up 500 feet. This is a rough estimate as surface area changes the deeper it gets.

At 50,000 CFS it takes a day to lower the lake 4 feet.

The math looks bad. Pray for a very slow snowmelt.

This fail will be a bit different -- especially if it is the MS or ES that starts the failure. The seep has been constant by the MS and the ES (think about puddling). While yes we are talking huge pressure -- the dam is more structural sound then the area at the spillways.

Yes it could slide once the water is gone. but that depends on how much snow melt and rain keep coming into the fails area
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21185155

Picture a high pressure washer on a mound of dirt starting at the edge. The dam won't collapse, it will be cut away.
 Quoting: LJM77

Yes. I have an engineering background. The ES area will cut away first which should keep the dam from being at risk.

Like I said -- information. They are not talking about the ground under the ES for a reason.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21185155

You are not an engineer...sorry. What stands in the way of the spillway cutting to the dam...they join each other. Give me specifics please.
 Quoting: LJM77

I stated information. That's all I am saying. If you can find it own your own swell. If you don't -- Thank you for understanding.

If the fail report ever makes the hack -- you will understand the why.

You don't have to believe it. And I still pray for an intervention.

Nevermind, that was WORSE than this thread...

NOTHING is going to happen with this dam. Except they will hold on, until summer and they can begin to fully repair it.
This is the end of this threads story.

If you buy that, I have some great ocean front propert, in Arizona, I would love to sell to ya.

If the thread causes you pain -- why visit? Masochist. You guys trip me out :)

Today 14 years back the USA invadead iraq with shock and awe

Many people are said to have died who were non military

Seemed like a ritualistic blood orgy

Could something big happen today on the spring equinox?

Someone told me long ago that in ancient Chinese numerology four means death - and 14 signifies certain death.

Today marks 14 solar cycles since that big horrible satanic invasion - which followed the irrational 911.

Anything is possible that before it happens or is perpetrated seems highly improbable or even impossible.

Since we saw no timeline that ended well for the Oroville dam and the people downstream we started an experiment this morning.
We are making a hole in the bottom of that lake and connecting it to an aquifer, draining the lake.

Yes. Just checked the 10 day weather report. It doesn't seem like the rain will be that heavy. Those repairs don't seem that substantial in the grand scheme. I'm wondering about the remote viewer who supposedly sees a dam collapse. If you search on "remote viewer predicts water event March 2017", you'll find it.

BTW, he also supposedly viewed the ISS being in two parts. Wonder what that's supposed to portend.

The remote viewers never seem to come clean in the face of abject failure.

When it comes to Oroville, though, it seems like standard science and a healthy sense of political skepticism are enough to warrant concern.

My question-- will all the equipment and evidence of night time repairs over by the weir be gone by daylight? Lights are still there now so I'm assuming repairs have gone on all night.

What would stop the dam from cutting away if one of the spillways collapse?
 Quoting: LJM77

There's a damn big chunk of hill/mountainside between the spillway and the dam.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73421978

It is made up of soft tailings. It would cut away in minutes, or less, if there is failure. I've witnessed this up close. Water is extremely powerful...it takes no prisoners.
 Quoting: LJM77

They ran water down that damaged spillway for many days and it only cut a small (relative to the whole size) chunk out of that hill/mountainside. It's not just made of soft tailings. There's a lot of rock in there.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73421978

That flow down the MS is NOTHING compared to the power of an uncontrolled release.

Dam failures are known to carve EVERYTHING down to the bare foundation. Nothing but a flat, polished slab at the bottom.

When you see something that is going to happen but you can't tell when and even if you know you can't do a thing about it. I am not the same remote viewer as the one you spoke of though.

Re: California's Lake Oroville Main Spillway Severly Damaged/Eroded. Repairs Happening Now
Water trucks are spraying water or some fluid over behind the Weir area on the ES. Is there a liquid that can be applied to harden concrete quickly? Why are they spraying anything?

If they put anything down, I would think it would be a material that has great resistance to lateral shearing.

Epoxy?

Wow. The jokes about duct tape and spit might be getting less funny if they are actually spraying glue below the ES...

All I know is that I saw two trucks spraying what looked like a clear liquid that looked like water over a wide surface. I haven't seen it happen before so I asked the question.

They may be spraying water on fresh concrete to prevent it from drying too quickly. it definitely looks like water.
What the Hell?...
