Yeah, I have been around for awhile. And have yet to see the corp successfully save a project when it weeks from being "overwhelmed".
Don't get me wrong, I love them all. They get us over rivers in a giffy. But do not ask them for damage control. Because the ones that will never speak up will tell you what I will tell you.
They should have evacuated everything downstream and been building a follow along path --- the destroy the dam before DWR kills thousands of people.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21185155 The Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Division: "Civil Works' Mission and Vision: Dedicated to providing quality, responsive service to the nation in peace and war. The Directorate of Civil Works is a major component of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Civil Works programs include water resource development activities including flood risk management, navigation, recreation, and infrastructure and environmental stewardship. Our mission also includes emergency response." and you can bet that they hire Contractors to do all their Civil Work for them. [ link to www.usace.army.mil] Quoting: freddie 0 Dude. Yah. I know what they do. I have been there. Seen that. You missed my cracking sense of sarcastic humor. They are great folks. But not a damn division has ever stopped a disaster once it was rolling along. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21185155 yeh. they move mountains, but it takes time.
