I love that movie. And you're right. Same here, Comedian. I absolutely hate the fact the marketing totally ruined The Thing's prequel in the theaters. I remember seeing the YouTube ads for it and it was marketed as a remake of the John Carpenter's The Thing. I didn't want to see that. I wanted to see what happened at the Norwegian Camp. We got to see the aftermath, but I wanted to see what happened. I wanted to see if it was one stupid act one after another or just a situation of unfortunate events unfolded. It was rather grand to see the Norwegians being just as dumb as the American Camp really. Too much CGI in the prequel for my tastes though... made it feel hokey to me. The John Carpenter one was so excellent even to this very day with it's practical effects it's still:  Conspiracy Theorist is nothing more than a derogatory title used to dismiss a critical thinker. South of Calgary is a huge swath of grazing land.(thousands of acres) It is community owned and the Ranchers simply let the cattle go and graze for the spring and summer months all along the foothills of Alberta. They are pretty much on their own. The land is fenced and such but the bears/wolves etc. all get in easily. Not much you can do about it and these Ranchers expect loss from such things. I have not seen any actual killings but if you drive south on Highway 22X going towards the US border you will certainly see the remains of cows that were taken down. Many many times I have driven this highway and have seen the remains. The foothills are loaded with Grizzly's. Heck, it was not that long ago (few years) that a fisherman was attacked and killed by a bear. Awful way to go. Need a group of LGD's guarding those cattle. |
