People on welfare can't afford drugs. Phenomenal waste of money testing them all, of course there are few and far between bad apples but I guarantee this will cost more in testing then it will save.

It should be a 3 to 6 month lockout if tested positive, not years, anyway its a good idea, i back him also if my gov does the same

I have done many work place drug and alcohol screenings and the piss test only shows if you are affected by the substance at the time.
It doesn't show if you smoked a joint last Saturday night.

However blood tests show if you have taken drugs weeks before and even hair sample tests can show if you have used months before.
These should never be used for employment purposes as you are trying to asses purely if the person will be affected by the substance during work hours.

This is discrimination as a person who used alcohol will be clear yet a person who used marijuana will not.

Even a liver function test for Gamma GT enzymes for alcohol will generally show normal after 2-3 days.
Only a regular heavy alcohol user will show elevated Gamma GT.

So if you smoke a joint on a Saturday night and get piss tested on Monday you should be fine.

If your employer asks you to take a blood test then sue his ass because what you did 3 weeks ago at a party on the weekend is none of his damn business and is outside the scope of employment drug and alcohol screening.

removing welfre from those most likely to steal, is only going to lead to disaster.

It was has been proven when states have tried this that
it is not worth the money. Drug tests should be disallowed for everyone. Course everyone who has to take drug tests for their job want others to be just as miserable but nobody should have to give body fluids for employer or government inspection. Disgusting.

Should drug test congress too.

What seems to be overlooked by those who have made it, is that life is often so fucking depressing for those who haven't, is that drugs offer a much needed avenue of escape. There where no laws about it in the 19th century and society did not fall apart.

It maybe fake but i have been saying this for yrs...

These people let their kids go hungry and dirty etc yet always manage to get fags/booze and drugs while crying they cannot get a job....

I know this isnt the same for everyone and tokers esp BUT, it is for the majority inc in the uk!

I have known many people with kids in this bracket and they scream poverty while somehow smoking green all week and rackin up coke boshin pills/neckin beer all weekend while on the dole and a family to feed etc.

God knows how they do it but i truly believe this is a good thing IF true

I agree to some extent but why should the govt (taxpayers) pay for users habits inc rec.. when the majority of these are just milking the system and not genuinely in need of further assistance re - healthwise.

I could count the number of genuine cases on one hand while i know another 100 plus who are just takin the piss for as much as they can INC fake mental health claims for extra cash etc
