If the elites don't care about our health why do they want people to stop smoking? | |

Where did you get the idea that 'they' want people to stop smoking? They are not interested in losing the tobacco tax revenue. They are not interested in losing all the money that is ripped off from people due to the complications of smoking. The tobacco companies were forced into making a few anti-smoking commercials. What you are talking about doesn't exist. |

What you are talking about doesn't exist. This. They can't afford the loss of taxes. The cigarette companies make money and later the medical establishment makes money. Before cigarettes, there was just pipes, cigars and snuff. The wealthy used snuff. In fact, there are snuff boxes at Parliament and the US Senate with snuff in them for members to use. Meanwhile, nasal snuff is being attacked by the EU. It's the safest form of tobacco use with zero reported cancer cases. Yet, the EU has chosen to target it with excessive fees. They put Molens de Kralingse out of business this year. Any store in America is stockpiled with cigarettes. You won't find nasal snuff, though, except for the odd ones at grocery stores in southern states. I have to order snuff from England because of the federal government's stupidity. Consider that black guy choked out by cops in New York. If taxes on cigarettes were not so high, there would have been no market for that guy to be selling single cigarettes on the street corner. |

There has been a huge stigma attached to smoking cigarettes for over 10 years or more now, a huge push encouraging smokers to quit, not just from commercials either. Why did all these smoking bans suddenly spring up at the same time in multiple different countries? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74099093 It's now 'uncool' to take a selfie with a cigarette in your hand and even at events such as music festivals smokers are herded off into some obscure corner and told to smoke over there away from everyone. I'm not trying to discuss whether smoking is good or bad for long term health but i'm wondering why all of a sudden after having the tobacco companies in their pocket for decades the elite suddenly developed a conscience and started pushing the 'smoking=death' angle on everyone? Question) Why do the elite want people to stop smoking? Answer) So they can pretend they care about our health. |

Since more people die of alcohol related illness (including DUI) why aren't they spending that kind of money on stopping alcohol? |

Studies are showing that nicotine can help prevent/alleviate Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. So, who are the anti smoking people? Those who believe whatever government says. I see leftards smoking and I see people on the right smoking. Statists are the anti smoking zealots. Want peace? Sit down and have a pipe or cigar with your enemy. You'll have an enjoyable experience together. The Indians knew what they were talking about with the peace pipe stuff. If you smoke, you should be able to do so in public places. If a restaurant allows smoking, I can decide if I want to frequent the place or not. Choice. Something statists hate. |

But the major cause of lung cancer is radiation. Think about fuka. Quoting: mondali1 From what I've read over the years, polumium 210 from the above ground nuke tests contaminated the tobacco and that's when smoking became unhealthy. Now a days it's unhealthy from all the additives. I smoke now more than ever because back in the day my grandpa told me that smoking in high radiation areas help protect the lungs from hot particials and made them easier to cough out. |

From the oral drugs to nicorette. They make money hand over fist, wether you smoke or try to quit. Most people fail quitting the first few times too, so money keeps rolling in. The only thing they didn't initially invent was vaping and the smoking fake cigarette. So what do you think they did? They went after the company that did invent it, and tried to put them out of business . When that didn't work, they worked tirelessly until they came up with their own versions of these items that didn't impinge on the original patent. Took a long time to do that too, but they finally did . |

Crazy Harriet User ID: 73949115 United States 02/19/2017 11:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't know, but did read the L&M papers, that were exhibits during the tobacco trials of years back. One thing they revealed is that smokers, from as young as 16 to seniors, experienced an alpha wave response that lasted (forget exactly) 10 to 20 minutes. This was believed to create a psychological addiction to tobacco. During WWI, cigarettes were part of every soldier's kit. one reason is that they stopped shock when a soldier was shot or otherwise wounded, increasing the chance of survival. Another was that they increased reaction time, which has been proven in scientific research, using an automobile mock-up. Reaction time (hitting the brake, steering) when an obstacle appeared before the test subjects was faster for those who had used tobacco before the test. Those are a few reasons that come to mind. In WWI, it was believed that a soldier could spot the enemy soldier and shoot faster with tobacco use. That was when they were hiding in trenches and would pop up and shoot. Rather like a real life game of Whack a Mole. Draw your own conclusions, or better yet, do research. Doubt if google would be useful for this, but there are probably sites where such information is still available. Haven't looked in years. Or condemning eggs when the "egg beaters" substitute was being sold for the first time? naw. Just coincidence.
