Elderly woman found molded to chair; rescuers forced to wear hazmat suits

Found a live elderly man when I was a paramedic. He was living with no water or power, shitting in a corner, dead animals in the house. It was surreal. We had to wear SCBAs to go in a get him. You could smell the house from fifty yards away.

It's sad the elderly in this country are so ignored.

Other than that, so volunteers brought this woman her mail but didn't realize she had been sitting in her chair quite dead for a year?! Her demeanor had changed?! Do they mean to 'not moving or responding at all'?! Didn't anyone who delivered said mail realize she was no longer alive? Again...for a year?! o.O

It really was. He had been a teacher for over 40 years at the Vo-Tech. Very good man. He lost his wife of almost 50 years and just set about drinking himself to death. He had two children, but they lived in different parts of the country and I think they were just too self-involved to check on him. Because by all accounts he was a good father, husband, and person. Just had a tragedy and spent his final years on a bender.

OMG, that should have been reported to Social Services and Authorities long before it got like that.

How do you know for a fact that woman could not even move out of that chair to assist herself walk in and out of her house leaving her helpless and trapped like that?
How do you do this knowing no one is staying with and assisting her in her basic needs and life?

Some one or ones were more interested in throwing a meal at a dying person.
They had to have been profiteering off her remaining in that deadly set up rather than her being rescued and helped.

That does not happen over night nor does it happen spontaneously.

My god what sick people would witness such and walk off not turning that situation into the police or other intervening authorities or departments.

people should think more about whats gonna happen when they are old.
todays society is even more detached from getting married and staying faithfull, having debt in relationships etc. they gonna have a hard time once they are old and not in the popular region anymore. or once something bad happens and they wont be able to keep up with the ingrowd

This reminds me of a video taken off a street cam, where there was a hit and run in Hartford Connecticut. Nobody went to help the struck person that was lying on the road. People were afraid of being sued....

People should have the right to choose euthanasia when they reach a certain age or when quality of life deteriorates to this extent. It should be something you can plan on and schedule years in advance, because you never know what state your mind will be in when you reach that age.
