Everyone on this website is being monitored and recorded into a data base. NSA knows everything about you and your life story. Computers are the easiest to watch and record. The Tech companies will not release technology of any kind unless you can be spied on at all times through it.

I didn't find that snippet any longer in the privacy policy. Nonetheless, it is still a troubling undisclosed fact. Unless they "fixed" this issue from 2 years ago.

Sure we are being spied on. Pretty much no way to escape that anymore.If you do a search you will find out that covering the camera on your TV, smart phones, tablets, computer, does not even stop some of these devices from seeing you. They can actually see you through the screen or monitor. Depending on what type of screen your TV has, they may be able to only see a poor blurred image all the way to a very clear picture of anything in the room. Samsung is not the only brand to worry about, its all of them. Why do you think the NSA has that huge super computer they built several years ago that take millions of gallons of water a day just to keep the proccessors cool? That thing stores every bit of data from all of these devices and more and has programming that pics up key words so it knows how to sort through and catagorize all of that data. No humans need sit on mics listening in on us every day.Dont know what they plan on doing with all of this yet, but i am sure we wont like it when we start finding out. Then there are the smart electric meters on our poles. You know, the ones a man dont have to come out and read so they can bill you every month. How do you figure those things send your electric use to the office? They either have to steal your WiFi, or they have their own built in. But if they have their own built in WiFi,, how does it get to the office? Like a cell phone? I am telling you now, there can not be all of this WiFi stuff going on all around us and it not be frying our brains to some degree. There is talk that the smart meters are so strong that they can cause auto immune disease on people, serious stuff. What if you live in an appt complex on one end, the end where all the smart meters for that block of appts are mounted to the outside wall? Like right outside your bedroom wall maybe? Ever have problems sleeping and have to use ambian to sleep at all? That may be why. Do you have lupus or MS yet? Your hair fall out a lot when you brush it? Dry eyes, dry mouth? Oh yea, dont forget about that wonderfull onstar in your car. And if the Gov has the TV manufacturers putting spy crap in your TV, dont you think its likely that your car does too even without onstar? Maybe in the factory radio that comes in it or one of dozens of other electrical devices that every car has now days? We are all screwed and not a thing we can do to escape it. And to you people that wonder why the GOV would even bother to spy on little old you,,,,how do you think there can be so much free porn on the net? Yep,,,,that is from filming you and your old lady humping like dogs in your room at night,,,LMAO.

It is not just smart TVs, people have told this for years and I mean years, they are just now telling people, I find this interesting. Thing is cable box did the same thing, and some went so far as putting tiny cameras in the box.

You know a lot of cell phones have voice activation, Apple comes to mind, but that on their computers and tablets too, so has android tablets and phones. Have fun cause it ain't just Samsung.

The Wi-Fi is a useful feature for many smart functions, such as streaming media. The actual question is about disabling the microphone functionality discreetly without affecting other functions.

As some have mentioned, a menu setting on the tv is an unsatisfactory way. For several reasons. One is that a firmware update could revert the set to factory settings. Another is that the microphone could be re-enabled via a remote connection, without notifying the user. Another could be that the manufacturer is simply displaying on the "settings" screen that it is disabled, when it really is not.

I think there is going to be a move at some point to have all microphones mounted behind a small user-serviceable panel on the front of the set, which you can open, and physically remove the microphone. Corporations and governments have strong motivations to not want to make this feature available. I think that informed consumers are eventually going to insist on it though.

Smart TV's are crap anyway, just hook up your (mini) PC or media box to a standard TV.

If they don't tell you when you turn on TV they can get major fined for this
