I dont think individual provinces are able to accept immigrants or refugees. The Feds choose where to relocate people who have no current ties to the country.

My niece married an Iraqi christian...so I thought, ok at least he is Christian...WRONG ANSWER. His family did not include any Japanese or Canadian culture in the wedding. My niece half Japanese/British Canadian. They removed her maid of honour in the day before the wedding and replaced her with a 45 yr old from California, who my niece had never met. All the food was middle eastern, the clothes were middle eastern, the music was middle eastern. No attempt to appease Canadian guests whatsoever. The 92 year old Japanese grandmother was expected to withstand not eating dinner until 11pm...middle eastern food of course. All carrying "hockey sticks" veils, and screaming IIIIIIIEEEEE all night. Worst wedding in the world.

They have no desire to assimilate, even the Christian ones.

One of the problems is when wealthy, mostly mainland Chinese move here and buy up real estate and don't end up working here or declaring income here. Their contribution to Vancouver's economy basically ends when their realtor cashes their commission check.

In a city where people are being forced to leave because of insane real estate prices, being pushed out of reach by foreign capital, the mayor is actually allowing our tax dollars to be spent so illegal immigrants who have no right to be in Canada are given access to city services. People who may have been born and raised here are being forced out because of the influence of foreign capital. But the mayor is ready to welcome any illegal immigrant "with open arms".

With the new Trump administration set to crack down on US sanctuary cities and in particular illegal aliens with criminal records, will there be a flow of illegal immigrants across the Canadian border? Will they be welcomed "with open arms" by Mayors like Greg Robertson and Premiers like Christy Clark?? Will they do it while ignoring the clear and present risk this poses?
