Small world. I studied at St. Bonaventure for a semester. Transferred out because the tuition was more than my parents had.
Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved.

Is Jesus Christ a historical figure or a fiction?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74202431

Whether you want to believe in him as your Lord and Savior isn't up to me

But he is 100% an authentic figure from history as Jesus of Nazareth

My son is very interested in History, he is in 7th grade. Do you have any recommendations for him?
 Quoting: Starbird

Keep the Passion

Never stop reading, learning, finding

Research your families history and immerse him into the cultural and ethnical aspects of your nationality
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14110969

He seems to be drawn to the strategy of War. WW1 &2. And he is telling me Olympus and Thermopylae. He will gravitate to certain facts.

I recently discovered Sami genetics and we have a box full of Civil War letters so we delve into some of that.

Do you have an opinion on why the the Far East is so often left out of History as presented to Western Cultures. Its almost as if India and its Vedas as well as the relatively advanced Civilization of China, etc - is almost forgotten and not included as part of the larger History of man in general.

And finally how do you view Anthropology?
 Quoting: Starbird

Very cool

I gravitated to war and strategies of war at a young age as well

Especially Thermopylae... Which is still one of my favorite subjects

He is obviously a young, brilliant kid.. maybe West point and he can be the future General Patton

If we remain ignorant of history are we really doomed to repeat it? And, how would we even know?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70458909

Well remaining "ignorant" is the reason the Holocaust happened

And holodomer

And Rwandan genocide

Remaining uneducated to the horrors of the past makes it bound to repeat in the future

I've taught kids in Detroit who didn't know what the Holocaust was
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14110969

So you are claiming that the Jewish Holocaust actually occurred? Got any evidence?
 Quoting: Porkchop 69

He cannot bring any evidence forward because anyone who has a brain knows that Germans suffered a labor shortage and created slave labor camps. The idea that they were actively trying to murder their slave laborers is one held by complete morons. If a college professor believes any of this actually occurred then they are even worse than a moron.

David Irving is the only investigative journalist who has published books worth reading on the topic, the only one who decided to actually research the topic with facts instead of quoting false propaganda.

He found the detailed death lists from all German Labor camps in the library of congress and guess what? THE HOLLYWOOD HOLOCAUST NEVER HAPPENED!

During the Civil War did the southern members of Congress vacate their seats as their states seceded?

Secondly, immediately after the war was over, did they return? Seems like that would have caused some difficulties.

I've talked to survivors

I'm not gonna respond to shear ignorance
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14110969

Typical response. Of course it looked bad to the soldiers coming, but they probably didn't understand what they were seeing. Did you talk to all 6 million survivors?
Where are the bodies, prof? Seeing a picture of 1000 bodies in a ditch is not the same as 6 million.
BTW, your spelling sucks. Shear? Brang? Ignorance?

What about 911 prof?
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

Read voraciously. Travel voraciously.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74203484

You left out discuss voraciously - he seems to think I am a walking encyclopedia so we spend a lot of time doing research on google in regard to his questions. I majored in History a million years ago before dropping out of college - I tend to do a lot of Anthropological leaning reading - I am interested in new developments that are changing how we look at the world - like the discovery of Gobekli Tepe, Turkey - and mourn the lack of funding to continue deeper research into some of the ancient finds here in our own country.

I think there is some politics involved. For example they don't seem very willing to publish the DNA results of the 7,000 year old recovered brain material from the Windover Pond site in Central Coastal Florida. There are internet claims the DNA is of European decent but that would really bust up the Bearing Land Bridge theories all to hell.

I find stuff like this frustrating. For years they would never consider preClovis finds because they did not fit the dogma. Anyway this is my kind of History interest, my son is more mainstream.

Listen to me, and I mean this seriously. My son's Germanic leanings are pretty evident - Patton is not who I fear he might become if you catch my drift.

He is not a normal 7th grader - he stares at the World Map and asks me things like "What is North Korea thinking, they are about the size Maine and they think they are going to defeat a super power?" LOL

I think he will pursue this for the long haul - I hope we can find him a college where he can aggressively study this topic and avoid some of the SJW Safe Space culture that seems to permeate out of Colleges these days.

We live in Gainesville Florida which is a college town - I wish we could start a meet up group - a "History club" so to speak - or that I could expose him to more like minded people. He got into a conversation with an adult about WW2 and I was just blown away. He is not aspie strange about his interest its was more a collaborative conversation. I am sure a lot of mom's feel this way - but my kid is pretty cool.

What dialect uses "brang" instead of "brought"?

OP - I have a question for you - let me try and articulate it -
When a site is discovered and they bring in the Anthropologists and Archeologists - how does that work with the pure field of History? Do you cross reference - kind of round table?

How does that work - when say a MAJOR discovery like Gobekli Tepe, in Turkey changes so much. Do historians wait on the published accounts of the field sciences?

What would happen if they did publish DNA results from Windover Pond and they were of European decent? Everything changes! Do you find/see the resistance sometimes to admit to evidence because the change in History would be so large?

Sorry if this seems mundane - this nit picking questioning ^^^

We are Germanic of West Prussian Era - they all came over around 1850 from that line in the tree. I did 2 separate DNA studies and was surprised to see for myself complete and total Northern European genes with just a tiny smidge of Asian (Mongol?) We are Haplogroup H16 which is rather new group that seems to be clustered in the Eastern Region of Germany. There is a warrior blood in our veins - I can feel it in myself.

On my Son's paternal side he has Ancestors that came over on the boat AFTER the Mayflower - I've got that information written down for him. The English were very good about their record keeping so that line goes very far back on the other side.

Interesting thread OP, for me anyway. Thanks for the conversation.

Historians used to live in fear of finding new evidence that would dramatically change history

I would say there is still a fear but it isn't as great as it once was

If they find European genes at windover pond and they can confirm it 100% they will release their findings

If the Union brekas apart...

It will mostly be into 4-5-6 autonomous regions

Thanks for the reply...I thought it would divide by republican/democrat...Why do you think there would be more regions?

Because the nation isn't perfectly split east/west, north/south, Republican/Democrat

It would most likely be the region of NEW ENGLAND

THE GREAT LAKES

THE DEEP SOUTH

TEXAS AND SOUTHWEST

EAST COAST

LIBERAL WEST, NORTH WEST COAST

Interesting..I could picture midwest, southwest, northeast, and great lakes as regions.

I just thought of something my self. How are these possible regions going to affect peoples family vacations? What would it look like for a family of four from the Midwest visiting the grand canyon I. This scenario?

Thanks for posting and participating in this thread OP.

Very GLP question for you: Thoughts on the globally professed story of a great flood, in addition to beings coming to their respective civilization and teaching them things, even though there was no communication between these civilizations?

Finally, what's your thought on the "flower of Life" symbol showing up around the world in ancient civilizations?

Thanks again, I look forward to reading your take on these subjects.

The Left Coast (California in particular) seems the most firmly defined as being on a different page then most of the rest of the United States but my friend out there swears there is a TON of red down the Eastern side of that state.
