This probably as close to a Pogue carburetor as I've ever seen! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74197081 I hadn't seen the Pogue carburetor before. You're right, it is really similar. It's cool to see things like that, it gives me some ideas of how I could make it simpler and maybe better too. |

GALLOPING JASUS ,OVER TO YOU OP/ OLD PENSIONER $25, but you have to buy the engine too. $100. $125 and you have to pick it up and pay for my next vacation. Also, I have a nephew who may need a new moonshine still, you'll need to go ahead and pay half of that. |
Excaliber User ID: 73741147 Australia 02/25/2017 11:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I got this pressure washer from my sister after the pump failed. The engine is still fine, but I had nothing to use it for, so I decided to build this vapor-only intake system for it. I had most of the parts for it and the other pieces of PVC and extra items cost less than $20. All fuel lines are disconnected and the only fuel source is the milk jug, where air/vapor is sucked through the hose into the carburetor. This is the 2nd one I have built, but this one is put together much faster. The first one is a little beefier and more fine tuned, but it's underneath a shroud and is a pita to take apart. The first engine can run for a couple weeks with the same amount of fuel I'd burn in a day using the stock set-up. I hope you like the video. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Quick ring up the Don before they shoot you. And briggs n straton. Dont end up like tesla and all the rest. Good luck. I've got this whole mountain rigged with booby-traps. They'll have to bomb me out. . . if they can get me before the shelter is finished. Come to think of it, I'mm probably more likely to end up maimed by one of the booby traps I've forgotten about. Ha, just kiddin', sort of. It never crossed my mind that it would catch the attention of tptb. |

Tir (OP) User ID: 37338206 United States 02/25/2017 11:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes! I've talked about putting this on a generator. I think it would work well, since it runs at a constant RPM. That would make adjusting the system much easier. Now I just need to find a cheap generator to experiment on. I'll make another video in a day or two where I take the system apart and show the pieces used to build it. It is really simple and inexpensive, though you can buy bigger and better components to get better performance out of it. |
Tir (OP) User ID: 37338206 United States 02/25/2017 11:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If I had a working pump for the pressure washer, it could be used as it is. I have one on a tiller I use for my garden. I don't know how it would work on engine above 7.5hp or so. It may work well, it may not. I'm just not sure. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74209790 United States 02/25/2017 11:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You need to keep the carburetor or at least the throttle body to maintain vacuum and control the power. I'd put an EGT gauge on the motor to monitor the exhaust and therefore the temperature of combustion. Maybe a CHT too. No point in saving fuel if you're going to burn the valves or pop a hole into your piston(s). Gauges are always good. |

Tir (OP) User ID: 37338206 United States 02/25/2017 12:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This kind of setup is illegal on a modern car. The EPA mandates that you must burn fuel with only enough air for a stochiometric mix, and that's what the O2 sensor and closed loop operation is for. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74209790 It's legislated inefficiency. I have no idea how it would perform on a car, I only know how it performs on small engines. I had an HHO generator on a 1997 Lexus ES300. It was getting about 60mpg. That's been quite a while ago now. I don't remember it being illegal. In fact, I believe there was a way to get tax credits for having a "Green" car, but I never tried. |

It's all about the inherent caloric value of the fuel, turned into motion and work by a combustion engine... And competitive corporations spends billions each year to improve the efficiency of that process. One litre of gasoline contains approximately 10 kilo Watt hours of energy. Ie the equivalent of around 12.5 hp produced continually over an hour. And with a conversion efficiency of around 35-40 percent in the best petrol engines, a litre of gasoline gives you around 4 hp produced continually over the course of an hour. With the other 8 or so lost as heat. Through the exhaust, and internal friction in the engine. No Jerry-rigging changes these cold fucking facts. Period. |
