America has a defense pack with Japan to defend it against the Soviets and other communist regimes who were at the time a threat to Japan. The Soviet Union no longer exists but the communist North Korea still does. The benefit that America gets from this pack is they get to put their army bases in Japan and increase their reach militarily in a global war.

They had said they fired missiles off in an exercise in preparation for an attack on US bases if the situation calls for it.

Not we are preparing to strike US bases as soon as we are ready.

99.9999999% of Kim's bluster is for his own people, to show them that he can operate as a world "leader". Kim is not suicidal. He enjoys the good life and will not jeopardize that. This latest outburst is just directed at Trump to see how he will respond. Everyone, carry on with yur daily routine.

I agree but if they are targeting our bases and our people we have to defend them. We also have bases in S Korea. I dont know if its possible to bring them all home in a timely manner, I would be all for that but I doubt they can do it.

Because they spend their money on their military. Their military budget has to be astronomical. I doubt they are real squared away. And would probably starve after 3 weeks in the field. But they sure have big numbers and lots of toys.

My opinion from a guy that spent 2 years there. There is still a ton of tension in soUtah korea. The entire country is technically still at war. All bridges are loaded with explosives. Drainage culverts have huge concrete tank traps in them. Major highways are painted for auto traffic and landing planes. It is a weird place.

But they are a crucial ally. As well as Japan. And it seems we feel a sense of responsibility for Japan. Maybe because we microwaved 2 major cities. But we protect them. BUT whether you agree with our troops being there or not, they are. And from what I have read, NK has launched a mid range icbm that they would be able to attach a nuclear warhead to. That one can hit Japan. So even if our troops are not there, is that something we can allow to happen? NK has barked for decades. But this is the loudest I have heard and they are showing teeth. From a veteran perspective, that hates war, I don't see how we can not act on this.
