its not the sun, its the earth protective shield (magnetosphere) that is currently being bombarded...by forces unknown. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 193492
You can't say that for sure or with a high degree of confidence. There are a number storms at the southern pole.
Still this does not say it is a result of the sun either. Need to look further and at other attributes. |

On the 5th of March 2006, the Spitzer space telescope captured a MASSIVE collision in Stephens Quintet. [ link to www.universetoday.com]
Do you think it is possible that this is the arrival of that shockwave? I saw the initial images and the shockwave was simply incomprehensible in magnitude... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 185747
Yes it could be possible...
If we can see the collision happening then the light has arrived... the cosmic shockwave shouldn';t be too far behind...
It's one possibility, and a good one, maybe best we have so far! Good spotting. |

Greetings AC 185747,
I guess we all need some reliable astrophysicist here to tell us what's important, what's common, what's seasonal, etc. Even though the images may look unusual to us, there may be several other explanations! LET'S KEEP CALM, COOL AND RATIONAL! PLEASE!
May God protect you.
On the other hand note that:
Ultra-high-energy cosmic ray definition:
Unsolved problems in physics: Why is it that some cosmic rays appear to possess energies that are theoretically too high? In high-energy physics, an ultra-high-energy cosmic ray (UHECR) is a cosmic ray (subatomic particle) which appears to have extreme kinetic energy, far beyond both its rest mass and energies typical of other cosmic rays. These particles are significant because they have energy comparable to (and sometimes exceeding) the Greisen-Zatsepin-Kuzmin limit.
The Oh-My-God particle (a play on the nickname "God particle" for the Higgs boson) is the nickname given to a particle observed on the evening of October 15, 1991, over Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah, estimated to have an energy of approximately 3 × 1020 electronvolts, equivalent to about 50 joules—in other words, it was a subatomic particle with macroscopic kinetic energy equal to that of a baseball (140 g) moving at about 27 m/s (60 mph). These very high energy cosmic rays are however very rare and most cosmic rays possess an energy between 107 eV and 1010 eV.
It was most likely a proton travelling with velocity almost equal to the speed of light (if it was a proton, its speed would have been approximately (1 - (5 × 10-24)) c; after traveling one year the particle would be only 46 nanometres behind a photon that left at the same time[1]) and its observation was a shock to astrophysicists.
Since the first observation, by the University of Utah's Fly's Eye Cosmic Ray Detector, at least fifteen similar events have been recorded, confirming the phenomenon. The source of such high energy particles remains a mystery, especially since interactions with blue-shifted cosmic microwave background radiation limit the distance that these particles can travel before losing energy (the Greisen-Zatsepin-Kuzmin limit).
Because of its energy, the Oh-My-God particle would have experienced very little influence from cosmic electromagnetic and gravitational fields, and so its trajectory should be easily calculable. However, nothing of note was found in the estimated direction of its origin. Quoting: TheApprentice

I am still seeing the 22 degree halo around the sun. This is occuring at sub tropical latitudes...
These are formed ONLY when there are certain ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Very common at the poles to see these and in winter in northern latitudes.
It is summer here.
The plasma temeprature has dropped way off the chart it doesn't even register...
Whatever is doing this is causing the upper atmosphere to cool down...
If this continues the temperature differential between the lower atmosphere and upper will become such that warm air starts to rush upwards, exactly as happens in hurricanes...
Except this is on a global scale.
The next major warning sign would be a drop in barometric pressure across the globe...
If this happens I am bugging out. |

also note, IF this is a hoax ( IF, and I have sufficient reason to believe otherwise, notwithstanding other information posted in this thread ) Kurnaz is mentioned in the translated AbenBlatt story on Woessner - this may be where White hat got his sources for the story, if indeed fabricated.
We know White Hat speaks relatively good German, so scanning obscure german news items may be in his MO.
Sleuthingly yours,
ø
Greetings ø,
I did not understand yet what exactly Murat Kurnaz has to do with all this? Do you really think this thread relies on a translated story over this spy (Woessner). What story exactly, we are in the dark here! Why is Kurnaz important to the story?
I thought we were talking about science, conjectures and interpretation of information, and not spying acts. Why White Hat would fabricate his posts after this AbenBlatt's story? Quoting: TheApprentice
Exactly. White Hat seems to just be propelling ESA DE's story along with some legitimate characters, which is why I likened the effort to Clancy's work - or a milieu of similar spy/espionage authors. This is the GLP MO, as I am sure you are aware.
Still, the OP's theorem bears some weight.
Time will tell.

Very large stars like Eta Carinae use up their fuel very quickly because of their disproportionately high luminosities. Eta Carinae is expected to explode as a supernova or hypernova after about 1 million years or less from now, but as its current age is uncertain, it could "go any time now." However, LBVs such as Eta Carinae may be a stage in the evolution of the most massive stars; the prevailing theory now holds that they will exhibit extreme mass loss and become Wolf-Rayet Stars before they go supernova, if they are unable to hold their mass to explode as a hypernova [1].
The possible Eta Carinae Hypernova could affect Earth nearly 7,500 light years away, but would not likely affect humans directly, who are protected from gamma rays by the atmosphere. The damage would likely be restricted to the upper atmosphere, the ozone layer, and spacecraft, including satellites, and any astronauts in space.

Massive buildup of energy by twisting the suns magnetic field?
Hello???
What if there is some "solar engineering" going on??
I recall Tesla's "Primary Cosmic Waves" as being purported of a higher freq. than Gamma rays. Maybe were not reading anyhing, but seeing the effects, i.e. Massive lasma pressure fluctuations. Were left over trying to interpret data that we can only classify as anomalies. Foreshocks of a big wave coming, engineered and calculated to hit us on March 9? That would explain the date, but what bugs me is that they (ESA and Co.) say it has "already been launched".
Thats my take on the sun theory variant, but it could of course be something entirely different, like the galactic center theory. Any thoughts? |
