Yes, they are. If anyone remembers the SNL skits where Dana Carvey played an old church lady, they were easy for most people to identify with because that's commonly what you see. When I was young, I went to Lutheran Church every Sunday and went through Confirmation there in my early teens. During my wandering years, I attended both the Evangelical and Presbyterian churches. When I was older, I married a Catholic and went through the RCIA program to make the conversion. The hypocrites can be found in all houses of worship. I will say that from my own experience, the I've found Catholics to be by far the most hypocritical - even towards other Catholics.
