Honestly OP, I see no reason for the Magnetosphere to look the way it does. That being said I've checked everything.

Wind speed-okay
Bz-OK
BT-OK
KP-OK
Protons-OK
Density-OK
Auroral Oval-OK

As far as your Imgur image goes, you should really post a link instead of an image. I checked what I have and none of mine look like the imgur image you posted.

So there are all of the NATURAL causes for this.

Two other possibilies: HAARP or Cern

Me...I say HAARP. Nothing like heating up the ionosphere before a huge storm.
