ROBOT GOES ROGUE At Michigan Lincoln Car Factory - Kills Woman! | |

I would have to get inside the cell to finely set the torch positions. You hold a teach pendant in your hand and jog the robot into position. There is a deadman switch on the back of the pendant so if you get hit it kills the motion power. You have to get very close to the end effector of the robot to get it adjusted perfectly. I accidentally jogged the axis the wrong way and smacked myself in the forehead. The jog speed is really slow and it still knocked me down and hurt like hell. I dropped the teach pendant and it killed the robot. I had a lump on my head. At full speed its almost certain death if they hit you in the head. They're quite a sight to behold running full speed in person. Prayers to the poor lady and her family. Possibly a lock out tag out violation on the safety folks. Sad to hear.
