Why does it matter WHEN the NSA spied upon him. Doesn't this just make Trump seem smarter?

I mean... doesn't this just prove that an eventual candidate for Presidency and ultimately the winner was spied upon for almost a decade before he even ran? What if actually did something that would prevent him from winning that could be used against him? Just trying to understand the logic here... doesn't this just prove his point and reinforce it?

It means this specific case doesn't prove Trumps claim because Obama did have him spied on if he was already being spied on under Bush and the spying stopped in 2009.

Answer the question... the point is a US Citizen who eventually ran and won the Presidency was spied upon for 10 years by the NSA. Furthermore, while he was in the heat of his candidacy at last two FISA warrants were given while he was at least 50-50 in a general election.


That looks like almost 15 years of surveillance to me, off and on. I mean... I may not be an expert, but that seems like a kind of chilling of free speech. What do you say?

It means Bush people ordered spying on Trump not Obama in this specific case.

It might mean Obama's people actually ordered the spying on Trump to stop since it didn't go on very long after Obama took office.

This is not the instance of spying Trump is talking about.

from 2004 to 2009 is 5 years not 10.

Well, I'm no expert on spying, but I assume there was some controversy in 2016-2017 about spying. That looks like 15 years of spying to me. Even if you concede that 2016 did not happen, at minimum this man was spied upon since 2004.

What is easier to believe? They spied upon him in 2004 to 2010 and stopped doing it, or they always spied upon him and kept do it. Generally speaking, when you look at behaviors, it easier to believe that behaviors are consistent over time.

What I want to know is why they were spying on Trump when Bush was POTUS.
