Marriage is 50/50, meaning each partner has to give up 50% of themselves to the other person, more during difficult times.

It is a commitment too many people take lightly, kids will put a strain on the healthiest of relationships.

Yes the women have more balls than the young men. Most young men are so feminine. I went to a gym expo event type thing where they have vendors selling various fitness items at booths. There were also demos all day going on, beachbody type stuff. It just seemed that the younger men have no chance, the women were tougher, more assertive and dominating.

I guess it is just because I am older and can see roles are reversing it is unfortunate. I don't know if it is all the hormones in the milk or wth is the problem but something is changing rapidly.

4. Friends, family, community. Do you like and enjoy each others friends, family or community group activities? Do you belong to the same spiritual practice? Is there conflict with family relationships outside of the marriage partnership? Who do you feel loyal to? Past or present? Politics can fall into here because it helps to share a similar ideology.

5. Creativity. Does your partner emotionally support your creative interests. Music, arts, literary, intellectual, projects and/or creations. Do you do things together or are comfortable exploring your creativity on your own.. something like photography, painting, playing an instrument, belonging to a singing group/band, etc.? What are your hobbies? What do you want to learn.. scuba diving, piloting, building.. is your partner interested in what you're interested in? Are you okay if they're not and are they okay with the two of you having different interests?

6. Visionary. Somewhere early in life as a child most people have a vision of the type of person they would like to be. This is often related to what inspires one to be greater then they are and plays out in humanitarian work at multiple levels.. local, with animals, children, elderly, poor, disabled.. it is how one serves within their community and how they give of themselves to help others. It has to do with how to make the world a better place.

7. Spirituality. Some people choose to walk a spiritual path laid out by their family pertaining to participating within a particular religion. Others choose to go on a spiritual quest and explore various relations or spiritual paths and practices. This is about how one connects to their inner Divine spirit/soul and all that is. Is the partner locked into a rigid belief system and is it compatible? Do you both belong to the same religion or is one willing to change a religion to make the relationship compatible by both practicing the same rituals. Religion can be a big issue and needs to be explored to discover what each person is comfortable and wish to explore or practice.

Relationships are far more complicated then meets the eye. One may be compatible in several areas but not all thus providing challenges for growth and change. If love is the foundation along with having a strong mutual spiritual foundation one is likely to have a great long-term relationship. Have fun.

Not in my marriage! I put my husband through college, and bought our first house - on my income alone. I like to cook and clean, and we both work hard (inside the home and in our professions). Sex life is great, and we've been married over 30 years. (I married very young, husband is a decade older). I wonder sometimes if that decade between us is why it works so well?. We have very different interests, yet there are enough common interests between us to enjoy doing things together. We both like our own "space" and give each other opportunities to do things apart....(He likes to sail, (I get sea sick)....I like rock concerts.....he likes classical, etc, etc). It's important to show each other appreciation, and we genuinely "like" each other. We've always been good friends, and miss each other if apart for too long. We are very different in many ways..... yet it works. (We have 1 child, 22 years old now). He's had a good job for 20 years (I helped him get the job through a friend). Right now he's the breadwinner, but getting close to retirement age. Dunno how it's going to go with retirement, but he works from home, so we might be fine.

I'm a woman that has no desire to get married or even date. I don't really give a shit about it. That happily ever after shit only exists in works of fiction imo. And I'm not talking about being pampered like a Princess. I'm just talking about finding somebody worthwhile that's not gonna fuck with your head or cheat behind your back, shit like that.
