Let us apply some simple math to this claim, shall we?
The ships held less than 300 slaves per voyage.
Let's use 300 anyway.
Those slave ships were wooden sailing vessels, 19th century vintage and made about 5 knots tops. Google earth showed it was about 4,800 miles from the west coast of Africa to southern Mississippi (big ol slave importing state).
This means (under the best conditions) it would take about 40 days to make one crossing, then unload, refit and leave again. Let's say 90 days per round trip.
Let's say there were a hundred ships in the trade all told.
(There weren't that many.)
Each ship could bring in maybe 300 every 3 months.
You said 90% of the slaves died enroute (bad business model there) so only about 30 live slaves reached our shores per ship per 3 months. Those 30 would have had to bring in some major prices to finance this debacle.
Anyway, the slaving began in earnest in the 1830s, so they had 35 years (tops) to carry off all those millions of slaves.
Each ship could make four trips a year, times 35 years, is 140 trips X 300 slaves = 5000 slaves per ship, times a hundred, 5,000,000 slaves ever taken and 90% of them dead leaves 500,000 slaves (which is far more than were ever in the south before Emancipation in the war.
100,000,000 is only inflated, let's see, 200 times.
