Poor guy. First his virginity was stolen by a Mexican, and now his jersey's been nabbed by one too.

"The items were found in the possession of a credentialed member of the international media. Due to the ongoing investigation, we would refer any additional questions to the FBI."

A Mexican newspaper company, the Mexican Editorial Organization, said on Twitter Monday afternoon that a former executive of the tabloid Diario La Prensa was involved in the case.

After revealing the name of Mauricio Ortega ex-editor of the Mexican newspaper La Prensa and presumed thief of the jersey with which Tom Brady was crowned in the past Super Bowl LI, the publishing house fixed its position through a statement.

Tom Brady’s stolen Super Bowl LI jersey made it across the southern U.S. border and — along with his Super Bowl XLIX jersey — was recovered in Mexico with the help of the FBI and Mexican authorities.

And the item was reportedly snagged by someone Brady's pal Donald Trump would deem to be the enemy: a member of the media.

On Monday, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, whose department launched the investigation into the missing No. 12 jersey last month, said officials traced the valuable piece of memorabilia to Mexico with help from an informant. He did not specify where in Mexico the suspect was found.

The NFL, in a separate statement, said the jersey was in the possession of a credentialed member of the international media, reportedly named Mauricio Ortega, a former executive for Mexican tabloid Diario La Prensa.

The news organization apologized Monday and explained that its former employee had offered his resignation on March 14. At the time, he stated personal reasons, including health problems of close family members.

"His resignation was accepted. With total shock and surprise, we received news of conduct presumably carried out by Mr. Camberos on Feb. 5 inside NRG Stadium in Houston, site of Super Bowl LI," Diario La Prensa said in a statement in Spanish. "If this information is true, La Prensa editorial board vigorously condemns the conduct of Martin Mauricio Ortega Camberos, who took advantage of his position, using La Prensa to get credentialed and gain access to the game, press conferences and other areas of NRG Stadium."

Federal charges are pending against the suspect.
