I'm doing research to write my first crime / thriller and outside of what I've seen portrayed in films and a few tv shows (criminal minds, hannibal, etc) I really don't know much of the process and I do not want my detective/officer/agents seeming too flat and one dimensional in my story. I'm looking for non fiction to stay as true to life as possible but I'm open to fictional novels, films or television series if they have pretty accurate portrayals.

Try the Gift Of Fear by Gavin BeBecker. Great insight into the human psych and bascally a handbook for figuring out serial killers, rapists, ect.

Also Vernon Gerbeck, Homicide Investigations book. Literally the Bible for death investigations to homicide investigators. Any real police detective, especially in larger departments would have this book as their reference and likely on the desk.

I know, I am one....

Thank you SO much, AC! And thank you so much for all the work you do as well. That is just the type of thing I was looking for so it is deeply appreciated.
