They are doing the same thing in my city, over protest. They are putting up 34 camera's at all streets that come into my city. They will know when every person leaves, comes back, etc. IMO, this is a terrible violation of our right to privacy.

not saying this is a good thing, but using right to privacy argument wont help.

if this cameras are placed on public places/public roads i think they are in the clear to record, after all expectancy of privacy in public is subjective.

I like the part where they justify the need with skyrocketing crime rates caused by early release of criminals.

Re: Carlsbad to photograph every car entering city
absolutely a great idea. Carlsbad residents are not scared of challenging the law in any way. the average joe there is ridiculously wealthy.
this is almost too little of a protection due to the target they have on them.
i am sure this was just a precursor and in time every public street will have a camera tracking system that will require a court order to access.
that seems to be the road most of the los angeles wealthy echelon is going to also.
its a good idea in my opinion to stop and catch violent crime and robbery criminals.

as long as they cannot be accessed unless a crime has occurred and a warrant is issued

the point is simple... someone does a murder or home invasion or kidnapping.

you access the feeds on date and time and follow them knowing the car, license plate and individuals involved. what the destination or direction they traveled.
case solved...

the problem that becomes an amendment issue is repurposing the cameras for data retrieval without a warrant.
that is spying and an infringement upon the constitution.
rich people will have no problem paying an attorney to fight and win this kind of case.

poor people that are innocent will have ample opportunity to become rich if they are harassed by this system. lol

win win win. worth trying in my opinion

This will be accessible by anyone with a badge and a heartbeat, and warrants are issued by the most favourable and sympathetic judge they choose - just like they do now.

Innocent poor people have no opportunity to get rich from harrassment - they dont have lawyers on retainer. The law takes advantage of this in almost every aspect.
What they would need to pay hourly for a lawyer most normals live on for days lol.

Rich people will stand by and do nothing, like they always do. They do this because they are rich and dont care for much, other than doing as little as possible to get richer at everyone elses expense.

If the rich gave a fuck, the world would be a much different place.
As a matter of fact, the same can be said for most gubberments.

Re: Carlsbad to photograph every car entering city
To be GOVERNED is to be kept in sight, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right, nor the wisdom, nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction, noted, registered, enrolled, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, trained, ransomed, exploited, monopolized, extorted, squeezed, mystified, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, despised, harassed, tracked, abused, clubbed, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality.
