Quoting: Adams684 Right now your mind is centered on the physicality of the experence. If you quiet your mind, you can tap into the direct stream of consciousness. Always ask for protection from your angles before you allow your mind that kind of freedom. Don't look at it in a religious perspective, but a spiritual one. You are energy, so is the stream, allow your mind to catch a ride, kind of like the turtle does on the gulf stream in finding memo. Yes its that simple. I was in a casino one and did it. I got shown three pictures that flashed across my mind. A lady with carrot red hair, a clock that said 1:50, and a $5 dollar slot machine that I recognized. I was leaving at 2pm the next day. I tried playing that slot until I had to go ( hun made me do it, I have red hair. I knew better than to waste the money lol, its not the same color as I saw) no sooner than walking five paces from the machine, a women with carrot red hair, sat down and promptly one $1800 bucks. Hun was pissed to say the least lol.I had told him the night before what I had seen because I wanted verification, that the whole experience truly had happened. It was a real mind blower for sure. I always ask for protection from my angles especially the obtuse ones I always thought the pointy angles would have been more effective at protection. |

I am not sure the alkaline ash produced by such a small addition of the juice would be enough to affect the natural acidity produced by ketosis. The caloric issue is not in question either. The main problem would be the carbohydrates and minerals contained in the juice. While neither one is bad, the question is how would they affect the fast? Ideally, no carbohydrates or any other food source should be ingested during a pure fast. The body need to depend on ketones for its primary fuel source. Carbohydrates would be the first fuel of choice to produce glucose. This might result in muscle wasting since the body is still trying to metabolize glucose and goes after any source including glycogens stored in the muscle tissue. Of course protein needs to be avoided during fasting to prevent stress on the kidneys and too much acidity. (Fuhrman has some excellent points in the dangers of being in ketosis while still eating high protein foods in "Fasting And Eating For Health") Another issue that really needs to be addressed is taking vitamin and mineral supplements during a water only fast. While, once again, a small amount of lemon juice would probably not cause adverse effects, vitamins and minerals should not be taken during a healing fast. When fasting the body not only begins to break down adipose tissues for fuel, it also begins to leach out minerals. The first places called upon to release mineral deposits are extraneous tissues like abscesses, fungal growths, and deposits in joints. This is one reason that many people get relief from arthritic conditions during a fast. The body also breaks down fatty deposits in blood vessels, along nerve paths, and on the outside of organs. This helps reduce inflammation in the body. I don't understand the whole process of reducing inflammation, but it is supposed to be one of the great benefits of water only fasting. If supplements are taken, then the body will not catabolize accumulated wastes and unnecessary tissues for their mineral content and the body will not experience the same healing potential. The regulars on this board cannot, in good conscience, recommend unsupervised water only fasting for more than ten days. Experienced fasters may be able to go twenty one days without supervision since they have experienced considerable detoxification and know what to expect from their own body. Anyone who wants to go longer is putting themselves at risk. While we can measure blood pressure, blood Sugar levels and to some extent ketosis and blood ph at home, people on extended fasts need careful monitoring of their blood and electrolyte counts to be sure they are still fasting in good health. The best way to begin and experience water only fasting is to start out one day at a time, after a while, try three days. That way you can safely detox and learn how your body reacts to fasting. As we've stated over and over, water only fasting is not a "quick fix", nor is it a good permanent weight loss plan. Water only fasting allows the body to heal itself through cleansing, detoxification, and catabolism of extraneous tissues. This all takes time and patience. It must be done correctly and safely or fasting could prove to be detrimental to health instead of healing. |

Thoughts more creative. I began to have much more energy and sense of well being. I felt closer to God and other people. I think a fast is or can be the fastest way to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit. I love Gabriel Cousins writings on the topic. |

You see the majority of creatures on land drink from sources of trapped rainfall. Rain is essentially distilled water but it picks up impurities as it falls through the polluted air. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 57149897 United States 03/25/2017 03:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I fast every other day. My health problems have all cleared up and I've lost 20 pounds. Google alternate day fasting the studies show it'll extend your life and fix what ails you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57149897 I don't think man was meant to live like that though. We simply need to learn to cut out all the garbage, and eat meals 5-6 hours apart, and generally two meals a day. Some can eat 3, but if they're smaller. You've got it backwards. Do you think our ancestors are every 5 hours? No! They woukd spend 24 hours hunting for food then when they found some they would gorge for a day. Then they'd spend another day or two looking for food. Our stomachs are not meant to be processing food 24 hours a day. When we fast, autophagy kicks in. This is a process during fasting by which our body eats up dead cells in our body, cancer cells, scar tissue, and anything our body doesn't need. When we fast this is the only chance for our bodies to do that and it starts happening after about 18 hours of fasting. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57149897 That's some serious commitment and willpower. I couldn't do a program like that because in my line of work it's very physically demanding, but I have considered doing weekly 2 or 3 day fasts over the weekends. My head definitely feels clearer and the willpower to fast becomes easier after first day, so it's not bad. According to the science, one can eat up to 500 calories per day on the fasting day and still reap the health benefits but I usually just eat nothing. You get used to it. And lots of athletes and people with physically demanding jobs do it and actually feel like they perform better on fasting days because insulin isn't swinging wildly from meals. But weekly 2 or three days fasts would prob have the same if not better benefits I'm thinking of doing that on some weeks. Personally it takes more willpower to do that than every other day. |

Try ending it with protein or broth or low glycemic veggies. |
