Without these FCC privacy rules, ISPs will be free to collect any data they want regarding your internet activity. Not just bulk metadata like NSA does, but very specific individual data.

The ISPs can do this without your consent or knowledge. The can monitor, collect and archive your data. None of this would be legal for FBI or NSA to collect.

So after your ISP has compiled all your data, they can sell that to anybody for any reason, without your knowledge or consent. So all NSA has to do is set up a fake marketing company and buy what they need from the ISPs.

And our Republican Congress and President is allowing all this to happen.

Who's to say it's just about ads? They could pick out anything that passes thru their pipe from you (email, word docs in the cloud, comments on a website, medical info, if you're a gun nut, etc.) and sell it.

Imagine some watchdog group looking thru everyone's internet habits to see if they have some certain opinion or another and they contact your employer and get you fired.

This is going back to regulations before the Obama regime made last minute changes. Your ISP only knows where your assigned IP address has been, and that's if your not using a proxy or vpn. They no not what links you have clicked, what your search results are, files you have downloaded, etc and if they do know this, that would be akin to your phone company recording your phone calls just because you have a land line with them. They couldn't "Sell" your information before and they won't be able to now. Just ask your ISP to see the terms and conditions regarding privacy and you will see I am right. They must notify you if those terms change. All these bull articles claiming oh "now ISP can sell your information" and yet not provide one ounce of proof, not even a copy of a privacy agreement.
