1/8 can be a very strong dose, or very weak. Even 1/4 can be pretty weak if they were grown too warm.

Lower temps = slower growth, higher potency, more blueing
Higher temps = faster growth, lower potency, little blueing

I've been learning of ego death on shrooms as some people I know would have bad trips... I never have...

I wanted to see why, and it seemed to point out ego death (and yes they had BIG egos and some suffered from Narcissistic Personality Disorder or traits of it...)

I thought blueing on shrooms was bruising and not related to potency. And potency had to do with the strain of mushroom..similar to marihuana

Indeed, I can only report the same when it comes to hallucinogens.

To be fair, I usually prepare mentally (which usually just involves thinking about the trip beforehand) in a much more encompassing form than my peers.

Couple of weeks ago first time lysergs and had at least 2 weeks of preparation.

I untangled so man deeply buried knots in my mind which used to translate into everyday stress and anxiousness for no reason whatsoever.

Anyways, be carefull and don't use these type of drugs to have fun, that you will have anyways, sometimes it can be exhausting but if you use it to heal yourself and your inner conflicts you will translate the solutions and insights gained in the experience into your sober state.

Grow them too warm and they will grow fast and have little blueing. Subject them to very cold temps and they will grow very slow and have extreme blueing, and be Very Potent.

Like you say though, strain is a factor too.

I've had ego death trips and bad trips. They aren't the same, at least in my experience. My bad trips were always time-loop trips. If you have never experienced time loop phenomenon, I hope you never do. It's awful.
