Nice of you to do that. Be sure to keep the dogs away from her--very stressful for her especialy being pregnant. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74580128 Quite true! Don't be surprised if she births dead kittens and/or fails to care for her litter otherwise. |

Try to keep her as far from the dogs as you can. Stress can affect labor but also she may kill the babies. Give her a spot to nest (a box with one side cut off) and if she pees/poops outside the box grab the pee (soak tp in the urine) or poop and put it where you want her to go. Don't give her cow milk (causes constipation) and try to feed her kitten food and plenty of water. Also, put an old towel, rag where she sleeps and after couple days give it to the dogs for them to sniff and do the same with the dogs (give the cat something that smells like the dogs) that way they won't freak out too much when they get to meet IRL. Good luck! |
LowkeyLifted User ID: 72482210 United States 03/30/2017 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Took her to the vet, figured out she was ALREADY spayed, while she was a stray cat she wasn't feral. She acted somewhat domesticated but scared, most likely from the trauma of being attacked by whatever attacked her. She still acts crazy sometimes, but she is so adorable and loyal beyond belief. I do not for a day regret bringing her inside in the winter. If I wouldn't have, I have no doubt she would have died from blood loss and infection. She wasn't pregnant but I hope this explains a little bit about my situation and how it turned out for me. Taking in strays isnt all that bad, in fact, 3 out of my 4 cats were strays. Anonymous Coward User ID: 71918795 United States 03/30/2017 01:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank you for helping. We have seven cats currently, all are rescues. Three live in the house and the other four have a beautiful kennel setting in one half of our two-car garage with climbing space, nesting boxes and an exit out the window into an outside area to play in that is completely covered and escape free. All of them see the vet (our expense) once a year for check-ups and Revolution treatments from early spring until winter. But when they first arrive, the local Humane Society does a complete work-up for basic health, neutering, and assessment. I am telling you this because last year we came home to find a beautiful long-haired calico giving birth inside a wash tub on the back porch. We brought her and the kittens in and kept them safe, waiting for them to reach adoption age (kittens go fast at the shelter- all of them were adopted in two days). But when they were weaning from mom, she turned on them and nearly killed one by ripping its throat open. Our vet explained that she was going into her cycle again and a stry tom was probably close by. He was right. We left mom with him for her surgery, gave her to a good home where she hunts mice all day in a barn with two other cats. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PERSON!!! |
