I have been speculating about a NK strike on its best friend even before Trump/Xi meeting. Not that I had a time line on this, but more of an eventual event.

Look at it from this angle: Should NK hit anything south or west, it will draw the full wraths of USA SK and Japan, and likely many other world powers, and it will be destroyed. However, hit China, one else gives a shit and are probably happy about it. Think China's traditional rival like Japan, they probably will even be grateful. China has no one coming to their help.

Chinese military mights are exaggerated. It only has a huge number of personnels but hardwares? No. And NK knows its a much easier fight. Would China then steamroll into NK, kill everything and occupy it even if it could? America and SK wouldnt allow that, therefore China could only keep the status quo there, that means the PRC probably wouldnt even fight back if attacked and have to come to a compromise with NK..ie more money more food more land etc.

The thing is Kim is a wildcard. He could do anything, especially if he thinks he's going down - he'd want to get his licks in wherever he could however he can.

The posturing you are seeing now is geared toward China to light a fire under their ass signaling that the United States is not fucking around anymore. President Trump is not bluffing and is willing to pull the trigger but not right this minute. Trump has set a hard timeline for all parties involved to adhere to.
