The problem is that if its in easy reach when you need it, its also within reach of an inquisitive 9 year old. Keep something nonlethal handy, like pepper spray or a taser if you can get it. The firepower goes in something metal with a lock. Rarrgh! |

At least I dont anyway. The longguns stay in the gunsafe, the 2 handguns we use go with my wife and I when we leave. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 200197 United Kingdom 02/24/2007 02:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ] Quoting: #4 birdshot in the mossy or rem870 gives a good solid column of pellets for about 20-30ft... enough coverage for clearing rooms and hallways if scumbag zombies or goblins are being pesky and refuse to exit peacefully. once they're outside, it's only in my cuffs or a bodybag so it don't matter what that next option is. I'm not a fan of birdshot or slugs for 12 gauge self defense. Sure, at very close ranges, the birdshot acts like a single column, but at more than 15 feet, the spread is too much, and the penetration too little. If you think you can count on that to stop someone effectively, youre wrong. This has been proven time and again. Buckshot is the way to go for self defense. Many many tests and expert observers' opinions have verified this. for some good tests on shotgun ammo and other ammo, check out: [link to www.theboxotruth.com] |

Not because you kill with it but because you have ensured your domestic security. The police won't always be there for you and at somepoint sooner or later there is bound to be a martial law event. heck. CNN says every week we need to surrender freedom for security. Can't possibly be a good thing. |

ONE: YOU WILL NEVER RUN OUT OF AMMO OR GUNS...AND THE AK IS NOT USED BY ANY OF THE ENFORCERS HERE! PLUS THE AMMO IS HEAVY AND HARD TO RELOAD... SURE IT FIRES FIRST TIME EVERYTIME...BUT IN A FIREFIGHT BETTER TO TAKE YOUR ENEMYS WEAPONS AND USE THEM ON HIM! |
Illumi-Bunny User ID: 192323 United States 02/24/2007 03:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The shotgun is MUCH more effective when you've just been woken up by someone breaking into your house, as you don't need to aim as well. But you're NOT going to get the same effect as a well-placed round or 2 from any of the other weapons. And that MIGHT be a good thing, if you shoot the WRONG person! - |
