Why are Australian government reports conflicting with the American ones?

Not seeing it on Sky news online. Strange.
And, did you all read in the tornado thread that the NOAA is telling, in its weather warnings for those in the southeast U.S., to keep ID on them at all times. WTF?

SYDNEY, Australia - US Vice President Dick Cheney, in a series of blunt and sometimes biting statements during a visit to Asia, defended the Iraq war, attacked administration critics at home and warned that the U.S. would confront potential adversaries abroad.
His visit was meant to thank Australia and Japan for their support in Iraq. But in a series of public appearances and media interviews, Cheney's tone was typically feisty.
Answering growing criticism in the U.S. and Australia, he defended the Iraq war as a "remarkable achievement" in one speech, and dismissed suggestions his influence in Washington is waning.
At a news conference Saturday, Cheney warned that "all options" are on the table if Iran continues to defy U.N.-led efforts to end Tehran's nuclear ambitions, leaving the door open to military action.

Cheney's plane diverted to Singapore
SYDNEY (Reuters) - The plane carrying Vice President
Dick Cheney from Australia to the United States was diverted to Singapore on Sunday because of unspecified problems, Australian Prime Minister John Howard said.
"I am not aware of the full circumstances and I have not been told except that it has been diverted," Howard told reporters in Sydney.
"As to the precise circumstances I'm not as yet advised," he said.
Australian media including Sky Television and Australian Associated Press reported that the plane had experienced unspecified mechanical problems.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. consulate in Sydney said she was not aware of the circumstances or of Cheney's proposed route and referred further questions to the White House.
The United States embassy in Singapore said it was not aware of any problems with Cheney's plane or of his planned route.
Cheney's plane left Sydney's international airport at about 9 a.m. (2200 GMT Saturday) to return to the United States.
Cheney was in Sydney as part of a trip to thank Washington's
Iraq war allies Japan and Australia and to reassure them that
President George W. Bush's plans to inject 21,500 more troops would help quell violence.

US VICE-President Dick Cheney's plane has been diverted to Singapore on its way back to America, amid reports of mechanical problems.
The US Consulate in Sydney says the vice-president's plane had been scheduled to make a fuel stop in Singapore.
But the spokeswoman wouldn't confirm if the plane had been experiencing mechanical problems.
She says Mr Cheney's plane is due to depart on schedule from Singapore.
The Boeing 757 was delayed temporarily at Sydney Airport this morning for an unknown reason.
As Air Force 2 revved its engines before proceeding to the runway, it suddenly powered down.
The main door opened and the mobile stairwell was returned to the plane , but it was waved off by security personnel and departed at 9am (AEDT).
Mr Cheney's visit to Australian sparked violent protests, traffic chaos and some tough questions about Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks and Australia's continuing role in Iraq.
Prime Minister John Howard says he's been told of the diversion , but is unaware of the precise circumstances.
Mr Howard told reporters in Sydney that he had heard reports the plane was being diverted, but had few details.
"I have had a report to that effect," Mr Howard told reporters at a NSW Liberal Party campaign event.
"I'm not aware of the full circumstances.
"I have not been told except that it has been diverted.
"As to the precise circumstances, I am not as advised."

Most people have some form of identification. I was just suggesting a reason that people should have it on their person and would be asked to during a weather advisory.
