What is there to define? It is self evident Scripture:

Malachi 3:16
Then those who respected the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord took notice. A scroll was prepared before him in which were recorded the names of those who respected the Lord and honored his name.

Basically a notebook of the Lord's, of respectful/nice people, towards him.

Not exactly the Book of Life, but a Book of the cream of the crop.

I would call that the book of life.

Specifically, it says...."those in fear of Jehovah and those thinking upon his name"........

His name Jehovah is very important in this whole thing

No....God doesnt "need" a book....but it is great that he takes note of those who take note of his name.....eh?

The "Book of Remembrance" spoken of in that scripture is not a literal book, as humans would think of a book, rather, it is those who are recorded in God's memory as having stood out in this world of darkness because they gave thought to, talked about and shared with others the importance of the most important name in all Creation.....Jehovah

What is being looked here for, in all responses, is the attention humans give towards God's name.....as it is vital in understanding this verse..

David did many things to please Jehovah....he was obedient, humble, accepted discipline, and was an incredibly forgiving man, which God took into account when God forgave David's sins.....the music he played on roof top in Jerusalem at night under star lit skies...praising Jehovah....surely added to Jehovah's love of this man

Alrighty then, after listening to 4 or 5 Malachi podcasts there was no mention of any "Book of Remembrance"...

...so now that I'm stumped I'll complete my reading of this topic.

It seems rather straightforward, just read the whole chapter. In other words, it is what the context of that verse says it is.

A book of remembrance is a diary or a chronology of events.

The answer is in the next verse:
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Which book is a chronology that lists jewels?

There is your answer.
