Yarp, I reckon this is closer than anything. Something terrible happened which took out the controllers and somehow we survived against all the odds to repopulate the earth, but we're destined to die......again, and then the cycle repeats. We're an experiment out of control on a rinse and repeat cycle which will never end. Our guardians are gone.
