If a person has a clot in their leg, there is no time to make an appointment. It's an emergency that could be fatal.
Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved.

Since a lot of people are saying eat asprin I will say the opposite. Dont eat leafy greens like spinach that thicken your blood.

OK so you know to go get medical help right?

If you drink lots of water you could get the thing breaking up and on its way to lungs, not good. If you do nothing it could get bigger.

If you take herbs again you could get it to break up, aspirin same. This is a problem for big meds. Dissolve is only way.

You know what to do.

Spinach does not thicken the blood.

They probably mean that leafy greens like spinach and kale have a lot of vitamin K.

Vitamin K is the antidote for warfarin (coumadin) as it causes the blood to clot. Its a LARGE DOSE of vitamin K that is given if someone is bleeding out.

When someone is on Coumadin, they avoid the greens because it makes the blood thinning of coumadin less effective and Coumadin is sketchy enough as it is, trying to keep the INR in balance.

Other blood thinners dont have this dietary restriction.

Glad you went to ER for no other reason than piece of mind, my advise as a nurse is 'if you don't know, its best to go.'

Thats what we are there for, insurance or not.

Re: Hey guys, I think I have a blood clot in my leg, no insurance. What should I do?
Hey I know this isn't doom related but I have received good advice here before so I though I would try again.

About 2 months ago I had an episode where my leg and feet (mainly right side) swelled up and I attributed it to sitting and salty foods i had that day. Since I have been avoiding the salt and haven't noticed much overall swelling but I was looking at my leg a bit ago and it seems like I have a decent sized bulge "2 diameter and maybe 3/4" high, slightly bruised looking. Anyways it seems like it could be a clot from what I have read.

I am 32y male, 6' 2', 189 lbs. I am in good shape, work out and eat fairly clean and feel great overall but I sit quite a bit for work in front of a computer as a 3d artist.

I don't have insurance, what would you do in my situation? Should I go to an ER or an urgent care clinic and ask if they can bill me?

Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks for taking any time to read this or reply.

Blood thinning foods.

Turmeric in your cooking, it is anti inflammatory.
Cayenne pepper.
Garlic.

Just add to you cooking and cut back on vitamin K veggies like kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli etc.

Get exercise.

Drink 1 liter of water per 100 pounds of weight.
Walk that ass around the block.
Take the dog, great excuse.

If you go to a hospital, make sure its a nonprofit hospital. They'll probably write your bill off as bad debt / charity care if you can't pay.

But don't wait. Blood clots are very bad.

You should really try to get it treated. They can lodge in heart, lung or brain. Can cause stroke, heart attack or death if severe enough.

You should get it looked at , seriously.
The clot can potentially break off and travel to your lung and cause pulmonary embolus (very bad). You need antcoagulates (blood thinners). Until then, keep your leg elevated. But do go to the doc asap. Stay healthy!

Go to any drug store or health food store and buy Vitamin E,and Circulation and Vein Support. Also garlic thins the blood. I like the oily pills. All this is not that expensive. Also, check out the HSN website and click on Andrew Lessman(all his vitamins are explained.) Good luck!

Go to the ER immediately. Chances are good that your leg problem isn't major. (Insurance is only good to have if the cost of care vastly exceeds your deductible.)

Whatever you do, Do Not use a cream like ben gay etc.

We know two people who died right after - trying to alleviate a clot. For what it's worth from a layman's observance, the cream seemed to make it move to more delicate areas.

Yes seen this before, you is going to die

Please go out with a bang and take those with you who push land prices/rents up to silly prices, charge you interst on loans and get half your taxes because this is why you cannot afford medical costs.

Take out the highest healthcare insurance policy you can. No pre-existing conditions! And then get a full body check up and then cancel the policy like everyone else is doing when you are well. This affordable healthcare plan can run forever! My doctor said he cannot believe how many people have been doing this.

Dude is financially fucked. He has to go to the ER. They're going to do a CT, a ton of lab work and probably end up with a screen surgery to keep it from moving after it thins out. They'll keep you for a few days at least if not longer. He'll be on blood thinners from now on. His bill will probably be over 100k.

I read about the clot traveling to the lungs, I really think I am just going to go to the er and tell them I am uninsured. It sounds like this kills 100,000 people in the US per year. Geez.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71132865

Compare your legs. Is one thicker, more red in color and warmer?

If yes, its most likely true. Start eating aspirin and curcuma. Keep the leg up, as long as its not pale and cold (this would be aterial clotting, you can check this by testing your blood pressure and doing an ankle brachial index (ABI))

Go to the emergency and tell them you have no insurance. A D-Dimer Test is cheap, fast and can show quickly if there was/is coagulation. Also ultrasonic look up just costs voltage. They most likely will do it for free...

And get a pair of those socks :)

Good Luck man.

You need to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Fuck insurance. You won't go to jail or have your bank account raided for not being able to pay a hospital bill. (That only happens if you don't pay your taxes.)

Sure you may get bad credit, but having bad credit is better than being dead.
