Sharing a place with strangers might keep you from becoming strange or even mentally ill.

Re: Should I live in my car?
It's kinda expensive to rent a room and I can't see myself sharing a house with strangers. Should I live in my car and use the gym to bathe? I live in a warm area near the beach. I'm a disabled vet so I don't have to worry about money.

You could always suck dick for extra money.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74653668

I think OP said he may be homeless, NOT a homosexual. Stop projecting.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74516036

Not projecting. Op could make some pocket money to rent a room. Sucking dick is an easy way for him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74653668

Karma may have you one day living out of a car. What will you be doing for pocket $?

Be careful what energy you are putting out in the universe.

If you're disabled, housing will get you a house/apartment.

You know "forewarned is fore armed" hint hint.
Also be sure to have a small fire extinguisher within reach inside the vehicle.

Re: Should I live in my car?
Plenty of vids on youtube on how to live out of a car. If you can lay the seat flat like a bed you're good. Otherwise trade for a van or old motorhome.

You can park overnight at most walmarts, lowes, cabelas, bass pro shop outdoor world, rei, gander mtn, cracker barrel, casinos, or federal blm land.

Does anybody here from the UK live like this? If so, how does parking work?

Might be a problem as I am pretty sure you need a postal address for car ownership. Could use a friend or relative's address.

I hated it, that live out of a campervan/motorhome thing, you have NO privacy. I just went where I could afford to buy a dump, it's horrible but I have a higher level of privacy than living out of a vehicle.

Thats a good idea for someone young.
But if you have the sprit to do it then do it.

If you had a purpose for it, like being an artist or musician with a goal, then it would be acceptable, if not then.....

Try moving to an area with a lower cost of living or find a place like someones garage apartment mother in law suite.

check out tax properties, a lot of people default on their taxes and if you pay the back taxes, sometimes less than 5k and negotiable with the tax office for a bid, you can own a house that probably needs work but better than car living.

Seriously doubt it.

Well, there may be a big initial back-tax bill. But for a house that you purchase for, say, $100... You may get stuck with a yearly tax bill of $500.00, to a max of $1000.

Check with your realtor to confirm.

Good Luck.

The conspiracy is that local Americans, a vet at that, should feel they have no choice but to live in a car in this day and age.
 Quoting: Tess.

There are thousands of good ideas for inexpensive no frills housing for homeless, but they never get anywhere because they don't meet the building codes. Now it's even worse in those areas that have adopted the universal codes that the UN is pushing.

The tiny house on wheels movement is a way around that.

The cities would rather have sprawling, toxic homeless encampments with people living in tents than change their building codes to allow small, affordable housing.

Re: Should I live in my car?
I have thought about it. Doing it for maybe a year to just pay off all debt, then another year to save enough to buy some land with maybe a small mobile home. Then you save up and build a house. Then you don't have to live in a car anymore, because you have no bills and a paid off house. Would be awesome.

Living in a car would suck, sure, but its not like you cant get wifi at a coffee shop, take showers at a gym (Planet Fitness where I live is literally ten bucks a month), the car would would basically just be a place to sleep.

Maybe someday. I wouldn't think you could do it forever, but as a short term way to get ahead, seems like it would be great.

If i was you, i would go buy a piece of land for about 1000 to 2000 dollars, then i would either buy a tent, live in car, or buy a cheap old motor home, they can be had around 3000 to 5000.

bam, 4000 to high of 7000 you have land, no one to bother you for over night parking, you have a motor home or tent, and privacy.
