WHY AMERICANS DON'T BOTHER LEARNING EUROPEAN GEOGRAPHY EXPLAINED IN ONE IMAGE | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73422449 United States 04/21/2017 09:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We have enough geography of our own to worry about. Quoting: Merit :usa/euro: That's not even including our biggest state, Alaska, which is more than twice as large as Texas and Texas is the size of France. So, I'll take a geography test over Europe and take shit for not doing well on it as soon as you ace one on American geography. Deal? Here's our States and population centers if you need a study guide. :mapofus: Also if you're wondering if this thread is just another American excuse to be a douche and show off, the answers is yes, yes it is. If you want to be totally ignorant of the geography of the planet you live on, good for you. |
Innocentfishingboat User ID: 72116087 United States 04/21/2017 09:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We're definitely taught a Eurocentric view of Western civilization which is often one sided. When it comes to geography, even in my time raising kids, the American educational system has failed. There are people who will argue at the number of states in America, let alone be able to identify all of them on a map. Naming capitals is far reach for the "average" citizen. In today's world, there is little focus placed on memorizing the USA map and its geographic features and locations. It has been lost in favor of smart tech giving us a world map in our hands. Many of the geographic comparisons posted in the replies clearly come from the middle to older aged crowd because we were taught relationships between sizes and such. The younger generations, not so much and school aged kids now get that in like, 8th grade and not really ever again except in review. Geography is the key that unlocks understanding of r the world and it's people but sadly it is not viewed as important as it once was. I don't get the point of Europeans are better in this thread and think it's kinda trolling, but I do agree that America's education of this topic has been lacking for quite some time. I didn't mean to do that...or did I? |

Merit (OP) User ID: 74726799 United States 04/21/2017 09:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As an American, let me say how embarrassing this thread is. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17324208 1 star. There exists an all-too pervasive subset of American culture which takes pride in its own ignorance. OP and his supporters represent it perfectly. Any time someone posts a message on this forum asking why everyone hates Americans, this thread should serve as the main reply. How noble to renounce learning and understanding, OP! Is the grey matter so sparse in your minuscule cranium that you can only fit so much, and once it reaches its capacity, that's it? So much to learn about U.S. geography that you've reached your limit? Not another brain cell to spare? Is this how our founding fathers, all learned men, thought about things? I'm a conservative. I voted for Trump. I loathe all liberals, lefties, commies and globalists. I care about conservation but I understand anthropogenic climate change for the fraud that it is. I believe segregation should be a choice that starts at local communities because people should have the right not to live near others who are proven to be more violent and less productive. I support the Second Amendment. I support a complete ban of Islam in all western nations and don't believe it conflicts with the First Amendment because Islam is, after all, a violent and seditious political system, not a religion per se. I support the Natural Born Citizen clause of the US Constitution and as such believe that our last president was actually an illegal usurper named Barry. As you can see, I'm quite right-wing. I'm not some limp-wristed Europhile with a hipster beard and a Starbucks latte by my side. But I understand that in order to defeat the diabolical forces arrayed against us in this world, we need knowledge, understanding, education, a fascination with history and the history of great men and nations. Pride in our own ignorance is precisely what TPTB want. Congratulations, OP. You're playing right into their hands. Now go munch on some hot dogs and apple pie, wave your flag, start hyping yourself for the NFL draft and spend a fortune at Walmart. That's all it really means to be an American, right? I have faith that eventually you will figure out that what they have tricked conservatives and specifically Christians into doing to push the global agenda is to buy into the whole "one ppl" nonsense. There is nothing wrong with competition and everyone coming together and forgetting why we are different leads to the situation Germany, France and Sweden are currently dealing with. In the name of "coming together" mind you. • Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. • |

Let me simplify it for you. Don't fall for Europeans shit. They know their piece of the world just like we know ours and ours is actually bigger and has more to memorize than theres.
