Anyone like Steven Seagal?

I'm a fan of many of his movies and, as a long time student of aikido, I have respect for him as a master. That said, I hear he is a pompous douche but that may or may not be true. Never met him.

I've never met him, but he seems to be a very hard-worker, and an upright citizen.

I wonder if he "really" hit his wife, or if that's just HER story ????? You never know......

Aikido is pure horseshit, just like Steven Seagull.

He did have some very beautiful Aikido, but now he is stiff and doughy. Most recent thing I saw was a demo in Russia, and he was just trashing the ukes. Not very pretty at all. Movies are one thing, a demonstration is another. And yes, the teachers I know who have met him said he was a pompous douche. But I haven't met the guy either. Would love to take ukemi from him if only to see if it could be done without major injury.

Just clearing up a couple of things.

One, Steven Seagal is pretty cool and he's open about his politics, this sometimes rubs people the wrong way.

Two, Aikido has a lot to do with philosophy, theory and demonstration so of course a lot of the videos you chair-jockeys watch on the youtubes are just going to be that, demonstrations.

Three, whether he is a pompous douche or not I do not know, but celebritys and such with reputations often run into people who want something from them or people who like to 'test' people so maybe they shouldn't expect the time of day from him.

Four, the wife-beating thing people are talking about, no idea about that.

Not going to click on a video whose makers cannot even spell "Exposing". I would seriously doubt the veracity of anything presented within the video.

He needs to stop making movies and eating so much. He turned out to be a fat fuck who doesn't do shit in his movies!

I'll still watch, 'Above the Law', but the rest can burn in Hollywood.

The last movie of his that I saw - I swore him off after that - was back in the '80s. I forget what the movie was even about, but at the end of it they showed clouds forming over a ridge line and he was talking about poison gas created by man. It was an intro to Global Warming.

It was enough to make me want to look for a handy place to fucking vomit.
