Booger Cancer User ID: 13299994 United States 04/23/2017 09:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know a ton of shit was stolen during WWII, and that's the only reason I've hung onto this heavy-ass fucker. Quoting: Dace I got it about 16 years ago in a divorce..ex didn't want it so I kept it. Story goes like this.... Ex's Grandfather was a Jewish officer who was stationed in Italy and France during the war...at the time his family was in France and after the war they came to the states separately. He didn't bring home anything else....while he was stationed in Italy he had this sent to his family who brought it to the states for him and he came over a month or so after. I can't find any artist's marks on it...just know it's carved and polished form some kind of marble, is about 2 feet long, about 10 inches high and weighs between 150-200lbs I've had offers over the years from 50 bucks to 500 but I've hung onto it because I have no idea if it's something he bought from a street artist or if it was something looted. I've looked through a few online databases of missing art, but FUCK they're not very organized... I uploaded three pics, but they're still awaiting smilie approval... will show up here when mods approve. Two feet long? Whatever you do, don't let John Posdesta see it. Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved. |

Quoting: emptynest I've thought that....but for a 'cheap' piece it's solid marble and fucking heavy as fuck...the 'completed' form is completely smooth polished .....'without wax', if you will.. Other than that....it's just the circumstances of how it was brought over.....why send marble ass-woman to your wife during the war and have her bring it to the states for you and not bring anything else home from the war? Could he have made it? People are funny, strange and sentimental. Her polished backside...someone rubbing her for luck? It cost him a fortune. |

I am by no means an art tard, but i must agree with the bolded. if you notice in the links to other pieces, the bodies are well defined, muscles in the arms and legs, dimples and rolls where they should be, as this body is smooth and plain, no definition at all. i would still try an art teacher possibly. |

Yeah...I'm planning on doing something like that... I've taken it to my local art gallery, but it's a small place in a hick town so all they could offer me was shit like 'Wow, dat's purdy!' I'm waiting on classes to start and going back to college in a month or so......planning on taking it to their art department at some point....if nothing else, a geologist might be able to track down where the marble was quarried and I can see if any other like pieces (or crap pieces) came from there. |

Dace (OP) User ID: 70360309 United States 04/26/2017 11:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | holy crap that has to be it...the similarities are just too much. seems like although Rodin himself chiseled the stone sometimes, he had a bunch of apprentices, he would model something in clay and have the apprentices turn them into statues. The one from your link was carved by Jean Escoula, who was one of said apprentices...also found out that Rodin's lover, Camille Claudel, modeled for the piece. Camille was also one of his apprentices. Now at least after all these freakin years I finally know what this was meant to be or is a study of....now I just gotta go get it checked out and dated. THANK YOU and everyone else who helped figure this out. |

I was thinking similar, regarding having the marble sourced... -however, the art and body style doesn't strike me as being European... I wouldn't be surprised if it were Persian... -The Armor of God- "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
