Anyone here experienced building bunkers or compounds?
My uncle and a few buddies are planning on building a multifamily "compound". I'm looking for input on legal requirements or resources. I do plan on talking to a lawyer/structural engineer etc. (for my uncle) Just wandering if anyone here has been through a similar building/legal experienced.

Here is something interesting, it is a bunch of former missile silos for sale across the US. Already permitted, built( usually at very high cost) and engineered to withstand nuclear blasts. Also quite roomy it would seem.

Re: Anyone here experienced building bunkers or compounds?
I work in the engineering field and have heard stories of projects we were looking at with secret tunnels and escape routes under houses. Gun rooms and whatever else you could imagine. I can also spot safe rooms under houses buried in the plans. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of permitted plans are public record. I generally don't want these if I know beforehand because gee I wonder who someone is going to search out looking to break in to these places?

If I was doing this, I would call out a gym and bathroom or rec room or something like that so its not obvious to anyone what you are doing. Ask for separate ventilation because you stink, etc. Probably need a septic tank and separate water source from the main house. Generator in an insulated room?

What is most interesting is that I know of a lot of engineers with off grid houses and bug out bags.

We looked at communication bunkers. Most of us are trapped here for about ten more years, otherwise a comm bunker would work. They usually come with around ten acres, wells, fences etc. Not a bad deal.

When you talk to city or county idiots never ever ever call it a bunker.
Never tell even the concrete truck drivers or tradesman or anybody it's a bunker.

It's a wine cellar.

The second you say bunker every gov idiot gets their panties in a knot to shut you down and every slack jaw local will attack you there if Shtf and they are starving.

I enjoy a challenge and have done my share of building but I've never done anything this complex.

If you choose land in the right state, outside city limits, there would be no more hassle than building a house.
In AR OK AL MS TN and the like, the land and the building materials would be cheap and the red tape absolutely minimal.

Cool how the bunker business is BOOMING under Trump.

You can buy shipping containers, kit them out, bury/interconnect them. That is a cheaper route to go.

The standard shipping container cost about 2000 dollars sans transportation costs.

I own a few.

For the most part if you have to ask, if you want to get permits and inspection, etc,its a waste of time and you cant afford it or it will end up occupied by the locals befoe you get there.

Here in rural Arkansas, I think you can build anything you want to build and nobody's approval is needed. The tax man, however, will want to appraise it.
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

With controllable entrance and exit.
Where strong winds would pass over rather than thru.
Fire resistant.
Dry even in the wet season.
Not so unusual that the women in the family would balk.

Normally above grade living space is taxed
Cysterns not so much.

On another note, what are invasions but new people to tax?

Why do you think this is all about anyway?

Elites fighting to extend their tax base, nothing more.

To me it's a toss up between Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. I gotta have some trees. It seemed like land was a little more in Arkansas but they're all better than here. I'm looking for around 40 acres. That could be 40 thousand in missouri or Oklahoma. They want 200 thousand for it here then they tax the shit out of you.

4 or 5 homes/cabins inside the common defensible barriers and sharing a well and septic system.
Also sharing common controllable entrance and exit.
