It wasn't the EQ. It was the nork missile launch. Remember OP said that all leave was cancelled. And the US Special Operations Command is located in Florida.

My guess is through recon we knew they were prepping the missile for launch. And our intelligence is very good at extrapolating launch times after it is known a missile is being prepped.

And here is something else I think may be happening; N.K. has had two missile failures in a row and within a close time frame. I believe we have spec ops on the ground in N.K. And they are hiding in plain sight, as SEALs and other spec ops warriors are trained and able to do. And I believe the team(s) on the ground are bringing the missiles down.
