Did you just compare the Nazis military beast that was some shit right out of revelations capable of literally taking the world over to NK and Lil kim?

Surely you see why that is a false equivalency?

This is the 26th strongest military in the world with a starving barely educated population against the strongest military in the world and a super power.

The nazis could not have done what they did if they were in Kims position.
 Quoting: Merit

kim got nuclear bomb and icbm. he got got enought nuclear fuel for an underground nuclear reactor.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74752075

A nuclear reactor won't run an army. Oil runs an army.

No one has seen an ICBM. All he has is rockets that blow up on the launchpad and missles he can't control when they do take off and have limited distances they can strike.

He has shit.

Probably eventually they willl pound the hell out of it and milk the tax payers out of a few billion more on the effort.

There is no reason for anyone to be scared, except the people from NK.

The complexity is in how to topple the government without too much collateral damage.

They hold their own civilians hostage, and any type of intervention will hurt the people.

You forget one thing.

The USA has no oil there either. It has to have it shipped, they need supplies shipped, they need military hardware shipped, personnel shipped.

Also a war is being fought on North Koreas turf. Their resources are right there. Also China and Russia are right next door.

The US hasn't gone up against a conventional army since the Vietnam war and we all know what happened there.

No way China and Russia are going to allow the US to walk through NK and set up camp on their border.

This one is going to end up messy

You can never defeat the indigenous population.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37838313

"Iraq?"
 Quoting: BadProgBad

"Wrong."
"Army surrendered, never defeated the people who are indigenous to Iraq."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74650736

Really? Apparently you forget all of the blue fingers, and parents Letting their kids play in the streets with Soldiers and Marines.

The fact is, we liberated Iraq, partnered with Sunni tribal leaders all throughout the country to defeat Sunni terrorists, established permanent military presence in order to maintain peace and provide a check on Iranian hegemony, and watched millions of happy Iraqis celebrate the first free Elections of their lifetime.

The indigenous peoples did not learn to distrust America and the West until Bath House Barry forced the military to forsake the people of Iraq, breaking our promises, and double-crossing the tribes we had made promises to in order to have them fighting by our side.

Many of those friends wound up murdered by the Wahabist extremists who we had promised to protect them from. Murdered by our own weapons which were provided by the traitor Barry. Of course now they are angry, but don't blame America. Blame the subversive, traitorous politicians who gave the orders--much like the politicians who are responsible for the political purges that occurred in South Vietnam after said politicians forced our military to forsake our allies there.

-------------------------------------------------------

What you did was take away the control structure of another country, leaving it open to other forces to fill the void. ISIS is a product of the vacuum.

So if destabilising the region was the goal it was achieved. Why is the idea that there are Iraq natives who will see the change as an invasionalforepointegn?

-------------------------------------------------------

Apparently you didn't bother reading what I said before commenting. I already pointed that out. That goal was achieved by Bath House Barry.

Well NK seemed to do just fine during the first USA vs NK War.
Can they match us Conventionally? Of course not, that's why any War with NK will go Nuclear quickly.

That's because they had logistical support from Russia and China, both of which had (and still have) their own independent reserves of oil and the means to refine it.

They sure are.

And all the US would have to do, really, is arm them with neutron-type nuclear weapons in the 5kT to 10kT range, and it's bye-bye NK artillery bunkers and hardened air defence/radar sites. The radiation from neutron weapons is very intense but also very short-lived, so there'd be no fallout to worry about.

The cruise missiles would also be very hard to detect and even harder to counter because they fly so close to the ground.

You mean everything we had. The Russians were beat and starving with no food or ammo.

The allies saved them and THEN they turned on Hitler after he betrayed them at the end of the war.

Up until that point the Russians fought for and with the nazis during the entire war.

10,000 guns in hardened bunkers can put a lot of fucking ordinance downrange before our flyboys can even get in the air.

We can take out their air defenses in an hour, their artillery will have fired hundreds of thousands of rounds by then.

Have you seen what a single 155 shell can do? Now multiply that by a hundred thousand.
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

You're right, the North Koreans could get quite a few rounds downrange before the US and South Korean air forces could respond. However, the damage and loss of life won't be quite as great as some imagine.

Plus, US and SK artillery assets emplaced near the DMZ have fire detection systems that will allow them to respond almost instantaneously with a counter-strike, and in less time than it will take the first incoming rounds to arrive.

It's estimated that at least 25% of North Korea's artillery pieces, due to age, may malfunction on the first day of a war. Ammunition failures will be equally prevalent. Gun crew fatigue and incapacity will whittle down the numbers of functional artillery batteries still further.

Their longest-ranging guns and rocket artillery can only hit the outskirts of the greater Seoul metropolitan area, not Seoul proper. There is an extensive network of shelters in the Seoul metropolitan area, meaning that a lot of people will be able to get below ground quickly once the first rounds start landing. Yes, some will still die.

The only chance the North Koreans have of doing really significant damage is if they use the element of surprise and launch an artillery strike that is unexpected.

China is simply using NK to test President Trump.

President Trump is doing a nice job of verbal parrying and thrusting with Xi. The Chinese respect this verbal gamesmanship ability.

Re: So I was looking at NK's logistical ability to have a war with a superpower. They have a big problem. NK has no oil.
I personally do not think China or Russia is "testing" Trump.

I think that those two nations are just sick and tired of Kim, the boo boo queen and want the US to take out the thorn in their sides, to cure the disease that has been plaguing their countries for sixty plus years.

Their armies are poised at their respective borders, not to assist but to prevent refugees from crossing their borders. My opinion.

Think about it. If C and R wanted Kimmy to have nukes, to start shit, then they would have sold them to his government by now.

I would think that they know if he has a competent delivery system, he could very well launch on them just as well as he could on neighboring nations. Instability in their back yard is not conducive to economic growth.

Both nations want to grow their economies. It is illogical to think otherwise. Yet they have this piece of shit step-brother in-law holding on to outdated Marxist ideas that have been proven to fail everywhere it has been tried. Both nations have seen this first hand and they have the prime example of it's failure in their back yard. Trade fails. The world may say, "Okay Russia we will trade with you, but you support a shit-head so, sozy no, not today, we do not trust you." To China they say, "Okay China, we want to trade with you, because you are the biggest market on the planet, but you support an anal douche-head so, nope, not today, soz brah."

So they are stuck, unable to move forward until their shared cancer is excised and removed.

I know some here think the two nations are pulling the strings trying to manipulate Trump, but I do not see it that way. I think they view the Norks are no longer useful in the bigger scheme of things, but they can not do what needs to be done by themselves or they look like welchers on a deal, or something along those lines.

Anyways,

Just thinking out loud.
