BREAKING: Google has a Manhattan project for AI Artificial Intelligence. WE ARE DOOMED. | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74764883 United Kingdom 04/27/2017 04:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Saying true AI is only 10 years away is a very, very optimistic timeframe. Also, the Turing test has been irrelevant for years. To use the Turing test as a means of gauging an AI's intelligence (being human-like and not emulation) would be looked upon in the field in the same way you'd look at a polygraph test being used in court. Meaning, highly subjective and holding many potential biases in its testing no matter what the controls were. Quoting: The Sexy Negan True, self-aware, self programing and self sustaining AI will not be here in the next 10 years. The largest problem being that we are very close to reaching the physical limit in terms of transistor size / power. This does only however mean that our current means of building computing technology is reaching its limit. There are many other means of computing that are being developed that could possibly lead to that "10 year" timeframe" though. So I will give you that, but using our current silicon computing means we will not reach the singularly within 10 years. And before anybody says, unless you want to go into SciFi, we are nowhere near that in regards to quantum computing. We are on the verge of not using current silicon-based tech for computing already. By next Christmas, we'll see the first bio-silicon hybrid tech. Hockey stick curve. Good point you have there, I did a paper on bio-silicon hybrids (the possibility of which) early January. Smart girl. I assume. I hope. Otherwise I'm retracting my hugs. Not smart, just lucky in terms of previous employment and my social circle. |

What you will see over the next several years that Moore's law slowing the pace of computing power will be like a water pistol trying to stop a forest fire. That is a fact. Basically computing capability is a self-fueling reaction. Better software designs better hardware. Better hardware runs better software that does better chemical and DNA analysis. Better, well you get the picture. It's a dry fast breeder reactor, and we have sweet fuck all carbon rods. Humans are being "dumbed down" so rapidly that AI does not need to improve greatly. The average human could be confused with a fucking Furby at this point. What's most terrifying is that new hybrid computer technology is being rapidly perfected and so miniaturized that even you, me, and everyone else may not even have a fricken choice in retaining our Humanity and be forced to become cyborgs for the rest of our newly unnatural lives. Just imagine finding out that you got cybernetic implants beginning to take over your body and then afterwards it's all set and done you realize you've not only lost your Humanity, but no longer going to Heaven upon your death because your religion decrees you've abandoned your one true God so you've Sinned the greatest Sin ever so your God has abandoned you like you abandoned Him. Just how fast will the Christian cyborgs will feel completely gutted on the inside and just lose the will to fight Skynet at all and willingly become one with Skynet completely believing they're destined to go to Hell no matter what they do now that they're a Borg? I for one really do choose death if this scenario is to really play out in real life. The way things are going now, Comedian, billions will happily sell their souls to Lucifer himself saying "Shut up and take my soul!!" as an uber seriously messed up chant as they demand their cybernetic "super powers" via their implants. Once you become a Borg there's no going back to your Humanity on your own. Conspiracy Theorist is nothing more than a derogatory title used to dismiss a critical thinker. You create a baseline of assumptions and logic circuits that are to be followed, regardless of what input you are given. Faith is the same to an extent. |
darkwolf007 User ID: 69195067 United States 04/27/2017 04:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's actually not. At the core of machine ethics is some sort of seminal theology. Battlestar Galactica did a fantastic job of introducing the subject. Yeah really. In the Star Trek series religion is a core principle to The Borg. Well that's misleading actually. I am meaning to many of the species that were forced to join the Borg as new Borg their religions prohibited Borg-like technologies from becoming an essential way of life. This isn't a stated thing in all of the series' many, many Borg episodes. It's an observation of mine about how alot of alien species in-series viewed the Borg in comparison to their own people. Heck, immortality isn't even a real thing with the Borg either. Many social media people have such an emotional disability to delete a deceased loved one's social media profile or profiles that they'll memorialize them that way. So what happens when the EMPs finally take away social media? Those people will lose their fricken minds almost instantly since they're always on the verge of losing their minds no matter what. What happens with The Borg upon physical death? All of your memories are shared amongst The Borg. Everything that was you was stolen from you once you became a Borg. So to me your memories in the Borg Collective is just one super elaborate way of public humiliating the dead Borg. Conspiracy Theorist is nothing more than a derogatory title used to dismiss a critical thinker. A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, 'You are mad; you are not like us." -- St. Anthony The Great Social Credit Loser here. |

Emp might be able to equalize, but if the D wave had the capacity equal to 7 billion human brains several years ago, it might be capable of self-powering. I mean, Tesla basically figured out how to power things from the air. No one has done it since, but if the assertion of capacity is close to accurate, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the quantum AI could make it happen. Better or worse? Who knows? If it gets to that point, there is no stopping it. EMP will not work. The wavelengths involved will not build enough critical energy in any one unit to cause disruption. Just as it does not affect biological nanotech (cellular development). The possibility of Nano "factories" disassembling and reassembling both organic and inorganic structures is awesome, in the true sense of the word. |
