He managed to fool enough people that he was a successful businessman as host of the apprentice (and never had his wealth handed to him on a platter), so why not try use him to convince people he'd be a viable person to run the country? Of course the stupid plan worked because stupid people bought into it.

Their brain just isn't wired right to be able to comprehend their poli-tricks. That show is the reason that people think of Trump as strong and capable. I swear people ignored all the warning signs about the man because they were having Trumpgasms about hearing him say "you're fired" for reals. Yup, weak minded , they bought it again!!!
