Goldsboro Clarifies Use Of Hanger Deemed Racist

The City of Goldsboro is having to defend the use of a wire hanger some saw as racist.
The wire hanger had been reshaped and was used to hang items being painted at the city’s sign paint shop shed. Some thought the hanger was shaped to look like a noose, and pictures circulating on social media started to gain attention.
In a press release, Goldsboro’s Interim Human Resource Director Pamela Leake says her investigation found there was no racial intent or actions intended to create a hostile work environment.
However, Leake says the city has instructed the paint shop to find another method to suspend items that need to be painted.
The Public Works Department has held a meeting to inform employees of the situation and apologize to anyone that may have been offended.
