#Carmageddon for Rental Car Companies | |
Five Star Bandit Just A Watcher on the Wall User ID: 73514234 United States 05/12/2017 01:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, renting a car is a pain and they are always trying to stick you with upgrades. Heck half your bill now is special rental taxes by the city, state and federal govs. ^^^ Agree totally. I wonder though, how Uber manages to continue to get away with its business model? I would expect regulations are coming for rideshares, that will make them have to compete with taxi companies, etc. "Sir, are you classified as human?" "Negative. I am a meat-popsicle." ~Corbin Dallas |

Now it seems every car cost $40-$50,000. Insurance for young adults could be $1000 for six months. State and local taxes. When you take your car in for an oil change at $60. Take your car to the dealer and it's an instant $500. Owning in a car with all those cost just doesn't make sense anymore. if you cant afford one don't buy one. I for one would love to have you off the road and out of my way. cars should only be for those of us that know how to maintain and drive a nice car. You sound like an entitled snowflake whom feels your time is more valuable than others. I drive a 12 year old truck. And I've purposefully hit people on the road because I have more time and more insurance. LOL He's not a snowflake if he knows how to maintain his car Hertz is just mismanaged. I work in the industry for Enterprise. Profits are at record highs. My biggest problem is finding locations that actually have cars available that are not sold out. Quoting: Shamrock007 To a point... Hertz is "upmarket" dealing primarily with the biz traveler, not local market. But a large percentage of that biz market has switched to private jets and smaller airports, closer to destinations. Hertz' s expense situation, and union costs don't fit well into that change, Enterprise is better positioned to serve that kind of traveler, with local market saturation. They move cars profitably to places that Hertz won't and couldn't make money on if they did. |

The liberal America hating football team owners demand the stadiums or they will move their business to some other sports worshiping city. I'm a San Diegan. This hurts me. |

They also truly believe they won't ever need to own a car and if they do they told me it would only be for a little while. Car ownership will be a thing of the past for a majority of folks. It'll take a while for rural areas to switch but it'll happen eventually. This is going to cause a big crisis and wake a lot of people up. People are going to realize just how much they've been bilked in taxes and fees when government passes new taxes to make up the difference. For us rural folks, just how will we get anywhere? Horses? There's no uber, trains, busses or taxis. Not too many of us can walk 80 miles one way just to get groceries. And no, we ain't moving. |

We simply do not have the resources to do without personal locomotion, whether it be cars, horses, or uber. without private cars, no uber. it is impossible for most people who have not lived for years without a car (or their parents' car) to imagine how difficult it is. You will shop for food every day. you can only carry a few bags without a car, and buses, etc do not have space for all the bags. You socialize on a bus schedule. Period. Or only socialize with people in walking distance. Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

So do hackers and big government. I am also inclined to agree with you guys. Technology is a double edged sword and regular people usually get the cutting damage while being pushed down on it. |

There will be more automated transportation for the city types, but the personal vehicle is here to stay. Human nature itself requires privacy and individuality. ...and unless you are part of the Commie Collective, our Constitution provides for PERSONAL PRIVATE PROPERTY as well. Not going to happen on the any scale like the current crop of groupthink collective tards think it will. SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL. . |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74868296 I take Uber quite often, and I now believe the first thing they ask a potential contractor is "Are you a foreign national with no understanding of both English and traffic safety laws?" It seems Uber hires the last persons on Earth that should be operating a vehicle. |
